ncdeb, my daughter's is in her foot. KT tape is kinesiology tape, and helps with the pain by supporting tendons and such.
BSunshine, I'll ask her about the KT tape. Remaining hopeful that it won't be too much longer!:) She had got it from training on steps... stepped wrong. She worked through it for about a week (not really knowing what it was), and finally went to medical. She went light duty but only got worse, and they confirmed stress fracture.
Thanks ladies!! It's been somewhat stressful, and I know she doesn't want to be in RCU anymore.

Hi Ladies, My Sailor also had stress fractures in BC.  They started as shin splints, she went to medical but they told her she'd be held back and have to wait on another class or get medical discharged. like Bsunshine's daughter she powered through and got them taken care of in A & C School.  it took that long to fix!  She was in a wheel chair and then crutches.  Yes, the first time she came home she was in a wheel chair about broke my heart!  She wore air casts on both legs for months, at first 24/7 then she could take them off at night,...she was offered medical discharge 3 times, said no each time, she said she worked too hard, been through to much to quit. LOL  She had trouble scheduling het PT because of her Navy schedule but they did heal and she went on for 9 years.  She's out now but has everything documented.  Not sure how things are done now.  But each case is different I guess....have the girls stay on top of it, make sure everything is documented and do what's best for them.

Prayers going up for all of you and your girls.  HUGS

My daughter used to get stress fractures in her feet from marching on the pavement in band.  They showed back up in BC but she was able to power through them and recovered in A School.   Seems like it's a pretty common injury.

Esti'sMom and BSunshine, where are the stress fractures and what is KT tape? My girl leaves in 3 weeks and I've been trying to get her to train on different surfaces. Doubt that even helps though.

Prayer for quick recovery Esti'sMom!
Thank you BSunshine what a rollercoaster ride it's been so far!

Sorry to hear that MoparMom:( I know how frustrating that can be. My SR is in RCU (has been for 2 weeks) due to stress fracture, and no telling how long for healing (up to 8 weeks), then 5 weeks of BC. Hang in there!:)
Comment by MoparMom on July 19, 2017 at 7:42am
So, My SR was bumped last week, I found out Thursday evening and was told her new PIR would be 8/25 and her Recruiter would send me her new address first thing Monday. Well I recieved the new Ship/Div then looked on here only to find the PIR listed as 9/1.So she left on 6/12 and what was a 8.5 week adventure has now turned into a 11.5. I know it will work out for the best but right now I'm frustrated, and miss my kid.
