Thanks JayDee659. BE CAREFUL!! Where do you live?
Enjoy your time with your daughter...can't wait!
Blondie, I hope things settle down at work. Surely they know how valuable that you are and they'll work with you. If not, they're not worth it.
mysailormeg, that 33 days will go by quickly. Something I learned at PIR. I was told that it's better to sit up in the balcony so that you can see everything during the ceremony. If I had it to do over, I'd have sat on the main floor, just on the top row. It took me forever to get down to my girl. She was standing down there making faces at me and tapping her foot.
One more night until my girl gets here. We have 60 mph winds and there's a tree uprooting behind my house. Not sure I want to go get in bed because if it comes down wrong it will be on the corner of my bedroom. UGH!
Thanks so much Oleander! Your comment about PIR reminded me of the sight of my nephew graduating from Marine bootcamp about 10 years ago. What an amazing thing to see! And then about 8 years my other nephew graduated from Nuclear Training in South Carolina and we lived in NC at the time so we went to that too. It was different, not so WOW since it was a smaller setting but I remember just seeing all of those fresh, young faces and how inspiring it was. Can't wait to see my girl! 33 days!
My daughter went in on March 14 and graduates on May 6. I've received a call and my first letter yesterday. She said
"I am growing here. It's a good feeling"
I read it over and over! Can't wait to see her and trying to adjust to the realization that she just won't be around for lunches, dinners and day trips to SF or Tahoe anymore. So happy for her and SO proud of her but it is a loss too. A beautiful, circle of life kind of loss. <3
My daughter called me from the airport to say that she'd bought a present for me but left it in her room. I told her that having her home is present enough. I can hardly wait to get my hands on her! They put them on an earlier flight due to possible weather issues along the way, so they'll get a few extra hours with his parents.
Happy Happy Friday! :)
Getting super excited for April 15th PIR. Boot camp goes by so fast !!
Lucy's mom....find the questionnaires and send some of those in week 4 ...there's one that c overs the first 3 weeks, my recruit found them hilarious and the girls had a great time with it!
Lucky's Mom, I think the good portion of us on here have kids who are done with boot camp, but there seem to be a lot of new moms so there could be somebody. Have you joined your PIR group on this site yet? It's going to be your best place to find out information while she's in boot camp. And look as I speak there's one now, Hi Denisep216!
My daughter was Ship 11 back in the late summer. :)
Welcome ladies!
