JayDee,

We were living outside Augusta, GA during that time and he was at Evans High in Evans, GA.  They had a very well known band program and were invited to London twice.  Daughter Jennifer also did marching band when we lived in Ohio and their band was invited to perform at 6 flags in Chicago one year.  Who would have believed that I would end up living up there years later not 5 miles from 6 flags!!!!  And Catherine was there for RTC.  I remember moving there after having visiting there for her PIR and the first time I went back to the mall where we took her that weekend I just started crying.  I went right back to the table in the food court where we had to say goodbye to her as we headed back home to Ohio.  So strange going to the same places that I visited with both girls a couple years earlier!!!!

Oleander,

Yes, the crowds were pretty impressive.  Of course the band all traveled as a large group and we were taken by bus everywhere we went.  One of the perks - not having to worry about driving or finding a place to park.  But not only did you have tourists there because of the parade but every performance group that was in the parade had all their members and extras.  I remember trying to get into FAO Schwartz and the line wrapped around the building just to get inside!!!!!!  I passed!!!!  But is was magical being there and standing on the curb seeing the entire parade up close and personal!!!! Of course our day always started about 5 am!!!!!  After that experience, in my son's senior year, the band was invited to march in the Lord Mayor's New Years Day parade in London.  I was the treasurer of the band that year so I had to keep track of all the money for every student parent and extra going!!!!  Making hundred thousand dollar bank transfers to a swiss bank!!!!  Sometimes I'd have several thousand dollars sitting on my dining room table waiting to make a deposit the next day!!!!  What a time!!!!  But London???  I wasn't going to complain!!!!!!

Anna,
She's doing great! She spent a week after Christmas in New York and sent me pics of Central Park. It's beautiful in the winter, can't imagine what it'll look like in the spring, maybe she'll go back. She's really enjoying the people she's working with and I'm thankful for that. Thank you for asking :)

I've been to NYC a couple times but only for a day each time. Last time we took thevtrain from Connecticut (where my husband was working) We went to GZ but it was still a hole with a fence around it. The best part for me was Ellis Island. My grandpa came through there in 1901 or so when he was a small boy. I couldn't find him though. My aunt says she remembers that grandpa said their name was changed majorly to Americanize it. How times have changed!

Oleander,

OMG do let me know if that works again!!!!  I have a shopping center nearby - I'll walk there if I have to!!!!

I've been to NYC a few times but I know there is so much there it would take many visits to see it all.  In 1993 my oldest son's high school band was invited to march in the Macy's Parade.  We got to go to a Broadway show, the Statue of Liberty and to Hard Rock.  Our family took a couple trips to visit but I'm not familiar with the high-line.  What is that?  I did get to walk just a small corner of Central Park.  I think a wedding there would be absolutely beautiful!!!!!  And yes, I would have the same reaction to GZ, I want to go see it now that it is all rebuilt.  I also would love to visit Ellis Island.  Haven't been there yet either!!!

roliesmom,

How is your girl doing?  Is she still enjoying being in VA???  My son and his family recently moved away from there and is now stationed in Hawaii.  Now if I want to go visit VB I'm going to have to pay for a place to stay!!!!!!!  Hope she is doing wonderfully!!!!

I wore panty hose under my slacks to make me look thin. Now I just don't care! :)

Thank you for the prayers ladies!!!  I just really pray he passes the first time, he's been working so hard at this and it would really help his career and his family.  Not sure how long it takes to get back the test results and then I know there is also a selection board he will have to go through for CPO, but I will certainly keep you all posted on what I hear!!!

Oleander,

How exciting to be going to NYC.  I love visiting there even tho I always feel like I'm taking my life in my own hands trying to drive or walk around that city.  Will you be going to Ground Zero?  That is one place I still want to get to see.  The last time I was there in 2011 it was still all fenced off and you couldn't even see anything through the fences - it was all covered!!!  So if you do get to go you have to share with us all about your visit!!!!  But even if you don't get there - enjoy your visit, safe travels, have fun visiting your daughter and her family!!!!!  Oh and STAY WARM!!!!  lol   Funny you comment about wearing pantyhose under jeans - - I used to do that before under armour was the thing!!!!

Today was Jennifer's first day back at her training squadron.  Tomorrow she takes a test to see just how well she remembers stuff she hasn't seen or touched in over a year!!!  But I am confident she will get back up to speed real quick!!!

Jean,

You know I will contact you and we will have that meeting this time around!!

And Andrea!!!!  I am so happy to see you back here.  You know we all missed you!!!  Wouldn't it be so cool if we could arrange a visit to WA at the same time and we could both meet up with Jean!!!!!!  That little Nathan is just so cute - you need to share a picture here!!!!

Catsmom needs to stop by also and share a pic of her little man!!!  Jean we need an update of Aurora, too!!!!!!
