Anna, my friend lives up near the lake, haven't been to his house specifically but I'm quite sure it's nice. I work with this guy, he actually hired me at our corp offices then he moved back to Ohio to be near his parents. We have a plant that's not too far from where I think Blondie is. I lived in Napoleon for a couple years. Visited there last summer when my daughter and I drove back to Michigan. Sure has changed a lot. Funny thing is that she enjoyed the parks that they made in the old canals as much as I did at her age. That apple fell near the tree. :)
JayDee,
I lived in Mentor also!!! Where did your friend live? I was off Johnnycake Ridge Rd right next to St Gabriel church!!!!!
Blondie, you're correct we are west of you. I'd temporarily forgotten about lake effect snow and was thinking you might be in St. Louis area where our storms are coming from. I have a friend in Mentor and he sent me some pictures from his place. Good skiing!
Bora will cock an ear when she hears my on the phone with my daughter. It's funny we have a boxer who is definitely my husbands baby. When he calls she totally ignores it all, but if we're video chatting on the phone or computer she goes nuts trying to get to her dad. When my sailor was home from Christmas her puppy (who is 2 1/2 but as the youngest dog in the house she's still "puppy") slept with her but not until she'd jumped in bed with me first. My daughter would come up, throw the 80# dog over her shoulder and carry her off to bed. This started as a game when the puppy was only 30#. I'm impressed that she can still not only lift her but carry her up and down 2 flights of stairs. LOVE DOGS!
Morning ya'll. Blondie, you must live just west of us. Round 2 started around 8:00 this morning. They say it will be done by noonish but people here just totally freak out. Several school districts closed because it MIGHT snow. They say we'll get an inch or less. My car does not handle well in snow, I'm now regretting letting my daughter take our CRV back with her. Should have made her trade me cars for the winter. My ski night is tomorrow and I'm looking forward to some really nice conditions.
Anna - yes the puppy sits there everyday. She just looks down the road. But when I call her she comes in and is super happy to get lovin' from me.
Sarahsmom,
Wow!!! 600 miles away and you have to go by plane!!! Sounds like Alaska for sure!! So sorry you couldn't go to see her off. But it sounds like you've been through this before with another daughter - still doesn't make it any less sad or anxious for you!! But how great that she was able to get home in time to see her sister off!!! Now you can enjoy spending time with her and hopefully it will help ease your sadness a little. Please tell your younger daughter I said Thank you, and give her a big NavyMom hug from me!!! And sending you cyber hugs {{{ . . }}}
JayDee,
Love your picture!! The snow looks pretty but the dog looks sad - like he's sure she'll be coming down that road any minute!!!!! Does she wait out there every day?
Blondie,
Gotta love those Ohio winters!!! My oldest son and his family are moving to southern Ohio for his new job. At least we know it's not as bad once you get away from Lake Erie. That's one thing I don't miss about living right nearby the Lake - the lake effect snow!!!!!
Good morning ladies! Winter finally found us, I spent yesterday morning scraping ice off my drive from the freezing rain that came in early Sunday morning. This morning it's 7 degrees out and more snow predicted for tonight. Here's a picture of my daughter's puppy (note that she's in the same spot as the last picture). She's looking down the road wondering when her little girl is coming home. She looks like she's dressed to go out with the 10th Mountain Division :). Hope you all have a great day!
