Happy Ground Hog Day! We don't have a ground hog, but we do have a Brown Dog. She is our official February 2nd long range weather adviser (unfortunately she's very ancient and may not be with us next year). In any case, we put the Brown Dog in the yard and she did see her shadow. It's 70 here today - my snow is melting on my ski hill :( - and I'm sure we'll pay for it with some terrible storms tonight. Hope you all are enjoying your day!
Drive safely Anna! And enjoy your road trip & family! We'll be thinking of you.
Good Evening Everyone!!!! Good Golly is it Monday again all ready??? Where did the weekend go??
I didn't think I'd be doing this again, but I'm leaving for PA this coming Sunday to drive another UHaul truck for my daughter Catherine who is moving out to Oklahoma with her twin sister. Since she's never driven a big truck before (and I guess I'm becoming a bit of an expert now!!) her Dad and I decided now was not the time for her to take that on by herself, towing her car behind her and traveling with two cats!!! So once again, I'll drive her truck, she drives her car and cats and we truck across the country!!! At least at the end I will get to spend a couple days with both my daughters and the new son-in-law!!! Always a benefit for me!!!!
Morning everyone!
Morning all! Happy Friday
8isenuff, we fortunately never got to that point, but I was ready. We have a cable for our lab for high traffic times (he likes to chase small squeaky dogs so if he really needs to go out during prime walking time we cable him). I was going to put them out one at a time, but everyone was willing to hold it rather than go out into the elements.
I also read the Little House series to my daughters. They'd come get on my lap in the living room and I'd read a chapter each night. We skipped one night as we'd been out late. That night my husband asked if we could read again the next night. I'd not realized how into it he was, but he explained that he loved the detail information about how Pa built things and handled daily life in the frontier. They are great life lessons on what is really important. Today we have so much stuff that we forget.
Okay, off the soap box. Everyone have a great day. I have my red sweater on and my shoes with the red flowers. :)
JayDee - funny picture in my head, with the dogs. How did that go? I agree, those books were (and still are) awesome. I read mine as a child until they were dog-eared and worn, and then shared them with my 5 girls, as bedtime stories. Some years back we had the opportunity to visit the Wilders' Missouri farm. It was pretty cool. Those pioneer women were truly amazing! I used to think I could do that. But the thought of no running water makes me think twice, lol.
8isenuff - it makes me smile to think about Pa Ingalls going to the barn with his rope. It's odd but I was thinking about that same thing the other day. We had some heavy snow bands and I was thinking about the dogs going out and getting lost in the yard. I got the picture in my mind of Pa Ingalls and tried to translate that into a system for the dogs. Those are great books and truly have a lot of practical information that is still applicable today.
Good afternoon everyone! Early morning appointments kept me busy today. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
