Hi all, Welcome the roller coaster Mirandasmem!
Anna, the saddest part is that 2 people died in the fire. The amazing part is seeing how much my community has come together to help each other. Not only is Fema here, also the Red Cross, Samaritan's Purse, SB Disaster relief, other churches. Local farmers and ranchers. All helping. I love it!
Shawna,
Your girl will be ok. She will learn how to navigate bootcamp in short order. It is stressful in several ways and hopefully she will realize she is not alone. You may be surprised that she finds that inner toughness!! Also, don't be shocked if you get that phone call or letter and she tells you she made a big mistake and doesn't want this dream anymore. They need a place to vent, complain, and honestly say how they feel. If you read back you will find moms who mentioned this very thing happening to them. But us moms are their safe harbor. They don't have anyone else that they can be that honest with and "get it off their chest". You will worry that she isn't happy, but by the next letter or call you will find out that all is well - she was going through a difficult time, was overly tired, or was frustrated about something. We just have to keep encouraging our girls and letting them know how strong they are and this (bootcamp) won't last forever. Then come here and lean on us and let us be your safe harbor as you vent, cry, complain . . . . whatever you need. We understand!!! Enjoy this roller coaster ride - we're here with you!!!
bbcregular,
So good to hear from you!!! How is your girl - is she liking A school? I can't remember where she is going to school at, but has she phased up enough to be able to check out her new surroundings at all?
Jean,
I always miss wishing you good morning back, so . . . Good Evening!!!!
Hi all! I just joined the group. My daughter left for Boot Camp on 9/22/15. She is my oldest daughter, and it was really hard to see her go. I've been writing letters daily and putting inspirational quotes in them about strength. She tends to be an emotional girl. I know that she is prepared for the physical part, but I'm concerned about the mental stress. I'm still waiting to receive her package and the form letter.
Mirandasmem,
First of all, know that you are not alone. Many of us feel the same way you do - like part of our heart is leaving us!!! Make lots of memories between now and her ship date, but be prepared like JayDee said, as once in awhile a ship date can be moved up. We are all just so dang proud of our girls and their life choices, but it doesn't mean we like the separation!!! Oh, and I love your icon picture. Not all pictures of our loved ones have to be removed. There is nothing identifiable in that pic!!!!
JayDee,
Very well said, thank you!!! I'm so glad you feel that love and support as well!!!
Oleander,
Ditto to you also!!!
Vickyrun,
Thank you for the update. That is so sad that so many people have lost their homes. My prayers for all those displaced and facing overwhelming emotions of loss. I hope they get the fire 100% out soon!!
