Blondie - Thank you for those kind words.  It's weird. I seriously thought I could handle her 'growing up', but then the selfish me is like, "now what? who do I mother?"  I have my son also, he is 13, and I tease him that I am keeping him until he is 40!

Oleander - my daughter is in boot camp now, then off to A School.  She went in unassigned and we have heard good and not so good things about this designation....

JayDee659 - I have been more reading what people post and not really sure what to say either.  I'm new to this part as well.  I agree with you JayDee659, this looks like a great support group!  I'm not really good at talking, but hopefully, I will learn!

You'll feel better after she calls the first time.  My little lady sounded happy and upbeat and that made me feel better. Her dog was intrigued by her voice on the phone.   Still don't know how to explain it to the dog!!!  She was big into marching band and I am still attending competitions.  It broke my heart the first time I went and realized she was not going to come running to see me after their performance.  I'm coming to grips with that.  Church will be the next challenge.  Everyone will want to know how she is and I'll break into tears.

Thank you JayDee659!! I am planning on starting to write her letters as well tonight. I am very proud of her i made sure to let her know that yesterday before she left and also when she called me.. We also have a dog he keeps looking for her even tho hes blind he goes by her bed trying to find her :(

Hi Amanda's Mom! My daughter left almost 4 weeks ago and I cry eevery day but maybe less that at first. Little things remind me of her or I think of things to tell her. I combat it by keeping a running letter on my computer desktop and add to it when I think of something I want to tell her. Also I'm so very proud of her and that helps me keep my sadness in perspective. Wish I could explain it to her puppy though. :(

Hi everyone! I am new to this.. My daughter arrived at boot camp yesterday.. I received the scripted call, she sounded ok, my question is does the crying ever stop?? I am ok as long as I don't have to talk about her leaving.. Am i the only one with this problem? she is the youngest of my 3, she 17. I just miss her like crazy, since we are very close, being a single mom its not easy after they have been your rock for so long..

Hi everyone, I'm not only new to my daughter being away at boot camp, but I'm also new to almost any kind of social media so I'm not sure where to start.  Heather, I saw your comments and it gave the courage to say "hi" and start.  Looks like there's a great support group here.

Good morning everyone.  I'm new at this group chat and well, new at having my daughter leave.  I'm not even sure what to do, what to say, where to start, how to feel (I try my best to always stay positive even when it hurts too!) but even that is missing it's mark a bit.  So, good morning.  I hope everyone is doing awesome.

HI all, I am doing fine, survived the  Butte fire. But was busy helping at my church.

My sailor son-in-law will be on cable TV tonight. But I don't get the Spike channel. I just saw clips he posted online. He is in a show called "Inked", he is a canvas, lol. He got a football tattoo.
