Blondie,
Sorry to hear about your computer still giving you headaches and in the meantime stuff piles up because you can't get it in the computer. It's like a never ending circle isn't it?? ha ha - if it was a hardware problem with the computer I'd say accidently spill a cup of coffee in it and replace it!!!! But, alas, it sounds like you are dealing with a software problem!! Coffee won't help that!!!

Joanne,
So sorry to hear about your car!! I'm glad it waited until Kasey got back tho'. It never fails - just when we think we have a little wiggle room in our budget something comes up that just sucks it all away!!! Hope your diagnosis is correct and it's not too costly!!

It has been such "beautiful weather day" here the last few days. Tomorrow we are supposed to get rain but that's ok - need it once in awhile. I'm spending time getting things organized in our little apartment so I have room for my company this weekend!!! I'm so looking forward to Jenn's visit. May not be on here as much - Jenn wants to stay up late and watch movies!! That goes back to when hubby first started working in other states and the girls and I turned their spring break into a week long movie fest. We would see just how long we could stay up and just have alot of girl fun!! Did that for about 4 years in a row!!!

Blondie, I am sorry that you had a night of not sleeping well. I wish I could tell you a magic way of putting issues aside until you have refreshed your body with sleep but I have not figured that out yet.

We had a good trip to Portland. We had great weather to drive down and back. I had an appointment with a rheumatologist who used to be my doctor. What I like about her is that she is very holistic and always considers all the other things going on.

Joanne, how long with Kasey's boyfriend be deployed?

DC,
I think I'd love to be a troop greeter - except I got all teary just reading your post!! I'd be standing there crying the whole time!! I'm so glad they are there for our troops tho'!!!

Joanne,
How is the visit with your girl? I sure hope you are having a wonderful time!!

Blondie,
Cheering you on girl!!!

JAS,
I have many fond memories of Disneyland while I was stationed at San Diego. My roommate's parents lived nearby and we would go to their place for the weekend and go to Disneyland, Hollywood, Long Beach, all of those crazy places!! Those were the days. Now I'd be like Pat - I'll sit on the bench and watch!!!!

Today was a beautiful day - I so hope this weather keeps up next week when Jenn comes to visit!!!

Joanne, did Kasey's boyfriend go out of Bangor? It is a major stopover. Portsmouth, NH, tried to get the troop planes by offering no "docking" charges. Some of the planes tried it but changed back to Bangor because of all the other services there.

The Troop Greeters there do a fantastic job for the troops. They meet the planes any hour of day or night. They have cell phones so they can call home, cookies and a lot of hugs and smiles. If they are going, the last thing they tell them is, "We'll be here when you return." If they are coming, they say, "So good to have you home again!" For me, it is hard not to get choked up when I see them. One time I was picking up V., and I had walked over to as the the Greeter if they were coming or going. They were going. As I was standing there, one soldier came over to thank me for being there. I felt guilty because I really was not a Greeter.

Pat, I think young people go through phones so quickly because they always want the latest bell or whistle. I remember once watching a couple of my students comparing phones. One had a new one and the other didn't. I heard her comment that something had to "happen" to her phone so the insurance would pay for a new one.

I'm off to Portland for the day. Be back this evening!

Hello all!!

Blondie,
Good for you!!! Stay strong!! Work should never take over a person's life, you can only do so much and if you try so hard to get everything done within an unreasonable amount of time, and end up in the hospital with health issues, then the Dr. will have to find someone to take your place!!! And who will train that person??? So don't let her push you

Joanne,
Enjoy your time with your daughter. You can check back in with us later - that's ok!!

Pat,
Glad you survived your Monday!! Hope the rest of the week is smooth sailing for you!!! Didn't realize you went through some of the same things I did with your Mom. Just more we have in common!!!

NavyMom,
That is so true about our vets from that war. I know my dad has many bad memories from that. He cannot have a cat scan done because of the sound the machine makes.

JAS,
Good to hear from you. Hope you have a great week also.

NavyMom,
What a wonderful adventure you will have with the Honor Flight. Can't wait to hear about it from you. Wish my Dad would do something like that but he doesn't ever want to share anything about that time in his life. And I wish I had the opportunity to interview my mom before we lost her. By the time we got the diagnosis on her she was gone within 3 months. Never even had the chance to realize she wasn't going to be with us any longer. She was always so healthy!!

Joanne,
So happy you have Kasey home with you. Give her plenty of those good ole Navy Mom hugs!!!

Pat,
It is a nice weekend and hubby and I went out a little. I am getting ready for my daughter Jenn to come down for a visit starting next weekend. She will be on spring break and decided to come visit her parents!!! While she is here I want to take her to the Outer Banks and spend some time on the beach. Can't have spring break without saying you went to the beach!!!! Just don't let it snow on us!!!!!

DC,
Glad you are having good weather there also. Hope your back gets better soon!!

Great news, Joanne. Enjoy your time together. it will go all to quickly so make every moment count.

V. is getting ready to head out to Japan in a couple weeks. It has been a long time since I saw her and it will be even longer now that she is so far away. When I think about it, I get ready for a pity party. Not the right thing to do.

NM, the Honor Flight sounds like a fantastic opportunity. I hope that it is most enjoyable for all concerned. The most important thing of all is that these vets are a link to the past. Their memories are so valuable.

My older son interviewed several older family members. The memories he caught on tape are fantastic.

Pat, it is beautiful here and I do love it. I sometimes wonder why I was born so lucky.

My back is still giving me fits. What I really resent is the fact that it interferes with things I want to do.

NavyMomXXXY - Honor Flight is an amazing project. I have had the opportunity to attend welcome homes at our local airport for 4 groups, I think. Some of my friends are chaperones and just love going on these trips with the Greatest Generation. Enjoy the trip and the wonderful people you will spend the weekend with.

2 in the Service,
So you have two daughters and both are officers?? How cool is that!! How long has your LtJg been in? And welcome to the group!! I'm so glad you found us.

DC,
Love the picture!! Even wild life seem to enjoy the sunshine around this time of the year!! They are probably tired of winter also!!!

Blondie,
Sorry your computer is still testing your patience!! Remember - - computers were developed to make our lives easier and to accomplish tasks faster then we could do on our own. (Rrrriiiiiggghhhhttttt!!!!!!)

Pat,
Good to see you're doing well and that your day was quiet. We had a sunny day today but the air was still pretty cool. If you were out in shaded areas it was cold. I walked up to get my mail today and actually took a longer way to get to the mailbox so I could stay in the sunshine the majority of the way!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Will check back in later.

Blondie, did the Navy let your daughter wear her hair in a bun while in BC? I was under the impression that hair could not be long enough for a bun until after BC.

Actually, V. did something that totally blew me away. When she learned I was going into chemo, she had her mother buzz cut it. I had no clue until I saw a picture of it gone. She sent it to me with the note, "There are more important things than hair." Now she had very thick, very curly hair that had never been cut shorter than her shoulders and she did that when she did it for Locks of Love, which she and three of her sisters have done. The buzz cut was certainly short enough for the Navy. She has been struggling to let it grow out ever since.

Oh, I see I am really behind. I can't get caught up since I am trying to clean house. I am taking a break. I wanted to share a picture of our wild turkeys sunning themselves.

I'll be back later. Welcome to all who are new.
