Good afternoon! Welcome to the new moms! I think that by the time the recruits reach Battle Stations they are ready and will pass.

My oldest grandson graduated from Marine BC in San Diego last friday. Their big test is the Crucible. It is 54 hours long and no phone call at the end of it. On the RecruitParents list, the moderators tell us that this is one time you do not want a phone call. Now I understand that the Parris Island group gets an "I'm a Marine: call. Anyway, I asked a DI how a loved one could "know" that the recruit passed since they get no call. He told me that barring an injury, in which case you get a call, everyone passes. They would not let a recruit who is not ready for the Crucible do it. I know that my grandson said it was tough but really not bad. My granddaughter said Battle Stations was great .... just tiring.

I really do not like this new page thing at the bottom. It is impossible to find where I left off. So I know I've missed a bunch! I've read back a ways.

I just finished putting together 50 little stockings for Molly's group in Afghanistan. One of the moms embroidered a Seebee logo on each cuff (250 of them) and then sent kits to some of us to sew up. They turned out so cute! If you are curious look on Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project group under the December adoption. There is a picture of one there.

Ok ladies, I am on a 2 day count down. By this time Thursday I will be in Great lakes at the meet and greet awaiting my daughters PIR on Friday. The I"m a Sailor call will unfortunately come while we are in flight. But she has promised to leave messages on all our phones so we will actually hear her say the words.I Yesterday was the last PFA, today was the last academic and now we wait through Battle Stations. It has been a anxious journey and I thank all my friends who have been there to listen when needed. JM

Pat,
Thanks - I will need my friends when I leave tomorrow. Already the thought of leaving has me crying - I just don't want to cry in front of my girl because I want her know I am so proud of her life here and would never want her to feel bad that she is so far away!!!! I just hate her being so far away. And I know many of you moms have girls that even farther away so I know in comparison I'm in a better situation than you. So I try to focus on that - at least my daughter is in the same country as me and we can use our cell phones. What do I do with all those hugs I can't give her anymore??!!!!

Allright - enough of that - shape up Mom!!

Welcome Charlotte!!! Lately we have been getting several new members!!! This is great - I'm glad you found us!!! There are some wonderful moms here that will support you and listen to you as you go through this Navy journey!!!!
For all our new members, know that this is a place where you can come and share your feelings and no one here will judge you. Instead we will probably agree with you and tell you how we coped!!!!!

Theresa,
Welcome to the group!!! I'm so glad you found us!!! I'm so sorry to hear your daughter's orders were changed. That is really a bummer when it happens. Unfortunately for the military - stuff like that happens many times!!! Hope she gets to come home soon.
Looking forward to learning more about you and your sailor!!!!!

As for the rest of my wonderful Navy Moms - I'm so sad - tonight is my last night here with my daughter. I leave tomorrow morning and part of me does not want to leave!!! My hubby keeps telling me he misses me and wants me to come home soon and I'm like "but honey . . . . . . . . . ."

I will probably be a basket case tomorrow:(

Welcome 2 in the service - I put a message on your page also.

I agree with the rest of you about the page numbers on the bottom. Don't like the new format. I saw the blog that admin posted about the changes and I left a comment about this new format. Many other members have expressed their dislike of the "new and improved" (Pat - I posted right after you!!!! Must be a "like minds" things - scary!!!! he-he)

JM, Thanks for the reminder. You are right I do have a Marine as well as a Sailor!

Joanne, thanks for the picture. It is so neat. I would love to see a gorilla in the wild.

Blondie I hope you feel better soon.

They changed that page link at the bottom. Now it is First, Last, Previous, and Next. I liked when we had numbers. Then I could guess how far back I was when I left off. Sometimes new and improved is not improved!

DC you will need to change the banner on your page, you no longer have a Marine recruit, you have an MARINE.

Joanne, I couldn't find the picture. :-(

Pat, I snoozed during most of the flight so it wasn't bad ... just the last landing was a bit scary. Even that was fine except we had to go back up and go around. Hey, any time I have a safe ake off and landing, it is a good flight.

JM, Have a safe trip and enjoy the PIR! Be sure to take pictures so we can see them.

Need to catch up on laundry! I'll be back later.

Oh, Joanne, to see gorillas in the wild would be so cool!

Sherry, welcome. Time will pass before you know it.

Whew! Blondie, I don't have your stamina so I am trying to recoup today.

I had a great trip to SD. The Meet & Greet was great and it was so good to see JM. About the time she was leaving, the some of the DIs showed up to meet the parents. Many had left but those who were there had a grand time with them. They stayed to close up the restaurant ... I think. We left towards the end and they were still enjoying things. The two from Bryce's platoon sat with us and told us all sorts of inside stories. Bryce said the next morning a couple of the DIs picked on Bryce some and one told him thanks for the beer.

To start Family Day off, there was a four-mile motivational run for Bryce's company. The general of the base led the run and was not winded when he addressed the parents at the end of the run. Then a DI told us the DOs and DON'Ts of the base while the new Marines prepared for liberty formation. We had all afternoon to wander around base. Friday morning we went to a special colors ceremony and then to graduation. Afterwards we had a nice lunch/visit with everyone. It was really fun having both my sons together for a visit. Alas we don't get together often anymore.

Yesterday was spent flying ... all day. As we were landing in Maine, the pilot gunned the engine and pulled up. It turned out there were very bad tail winds and he decided landing conditions were too poor. He went around and we landed from the other direction. That wasn't too comforting ... especially for someone who does not even like to fly. Other than that I had good flights.

It's going to take me a while to catch up on everything.
