Me too herNavyMom...even after learning that she's done with Basic and will have PIR this Friday, it comes over me in waves.  She's my...DAUGHTER after all!

It's getting easier after the box and letter but her minutes were used up for roaming so no calls. We are overseas. Anyone else missing their girl?  PIR 4 August, Ship 12 Div 234.

lahrrh92,

Yes Mom, we are here for you.  I cried over that kid in the box for several days.  Before daughter left, she and I had to pack up everything in her room because her sister and I were moving to a different apartment.  I had to clean her clothes and put them down in her last box and close it up.  Funny how life runs in cycles because today she is moving from a small apartment to a little rental house with her boyfriend!!

bbcregular,

It's always great to hear from you!!!  So glad to hear your daughter is doing well and is happy!!!  Please keep us posted!!

JayDee,

Don't you just love "oh be ready to leave in an hour", "no wait, make that tomorrow", "no, make that next week!!!"  My Jenn goes through that a lot when she's supposed to have a flight.

Speaking of Jenn, she missed the qualsim by one really stupid, simple mistake right at the end.  Literally, she was 5 minutes from the end and got just a little careless.  I don't know the details cause I'm not allowed to know what she really does, but she said as soon as she did it, she knew it was wrong, and went through all the corrective actions.  However, it was an automatic failure!!  BUT THEN, she retook it Thursday and passed with no problems!!!  Now she has to do her check ride but that has been pushed back - the ole' go now, no, go later!!!!

lahrrh92 sounds like your journey has just begun. Kid in the box is the worst part so far. Mine sat in her spit on the living room sofa for a couple weeks. Her puppy would lay by it and sniff at it. She just couldn't figure it out. Boy was that one happy doggie when she walked in the door at Christmas!

My sailor is currently on the stop, go, stop, hurry up plan. She was told she'd be flying out to her carrier early next week. After the briefing she and one other of her rate did not receive orders. She knows she'll go soon but not sure when.

Hello everyone. Have not been here in a while. Trying to read and catch up. Welcome new moms. Your posts and experience is great for me knowing we are all in this wonderful ride together.

Sailor finally in C school learning her job. She is looking forward to start working. She is grateful for the training and time the Navy has invested in her training. She continues to say that joining the Navy was a good decision. Because she is continuously asked about her future plans she is thinking that the Navy will be her career. She is still investigating the option of OCS.

I love the communication options. We talk/snap chat/FaceTime 3 - 4 times a week. I know those on ships do not have this. I feel privileged and know to be ready for that time of no communication again. In fact we are planning a mission trip for two months and it will be Mom and Dad who are unable to communicate.

Have a great weekend and hope everyone hears from their sailors.

Hi all! My Navy girl left Monday 6/12 for boot camp. Received the box today. That was harder than I thought. Can't wait to see her in 8 more Friday's. This group has been so great to one another. It's so nice to have the support and know if I need help you're here. Thanks for sharing your journey with me.

Anna  - I converted to the recruiter rating (NC) in '99 but had been recruiting in AK from 94-99. Then went to Denver and San Antonio before retiring.   For the first 10 years I was a manual morse op in the CT rating.

@ spyder013 - thank you. So far an abundance of info!

herNavymom,

So happy to have you here!!  Just out of curiosity, where did you recruit from??  And what was your rating prior to recruiting??
