Pat,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually working in a year round costume shop - and get this - I got the job through a Navy Mom I met here in the NC group. We got together for dessert one evening and one thing led to another!!! I've never worked retail before - always was an office type person. Of course with Halloween coming this store is busy as an angry hornet's nest. But it's temporary so I try not to complain - but boy do my back, feet, and legs hurt after 7 straight hours on my feet!!!

Welcome to our new member NHArmyNavyMom!! I'm glad you found us. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your sailor/soldier.

Cindy,
Thank you for sharing that info. I am so glad to see there are many of us here who are willing to share our experiences and knowledge.

Raineegal,
I'm glad you finally got some action for your wonderful daughter. I can't believe they made her go for so long before they got her some medical attention. There is no excuse for that and AFTER she gets home I think I'd be making a few more phone calls to RTC to get some answers!!!

Pat,
So the no answers yet - was that based on the tests they did on the spinal fluid they extracted or are they still waiting for results from that?? When will they refer her to higher level experts??

I hope everyone else is doing ok. We had a somewhat rainy day here in my temporary home in NC but it is still warm. A/C still runs during the day!!
Blondie,
My other daughter still lives in Ohio, just a hop, skip, and a jump up from Akron. She was complaining to me the other day that she is starting to freeze already!! I told her my a/c was still running and she told me to shut-up!! The nerve of these youngsters!!! :)

Puffy's adventures continue- Puffy celebrates the arrival of a letter from her girl. Still don't know where she is, Puffy can't read.

Good morning! Had one of those nights where I fell asleep early in the evening for a while and it ruined my night's sleep. I finally fell asleep around 0500 but got up shortly after 0800. Our neighbor built a new house and is having the old house torn down today. She is so excited and wanted me to take some pictures. They started at 0700 but I didn't make it that early. My husband has been banding birds all morning so we haven't had breakfast yet.

We are having chilly weather but it is sunny. The moon was so full last night that I thought an animal had set off one of the motion detectors on the lights around the house. The woods were lit up like a spotlight was shinng at them. The bedroom was quite cool so it felt snuggly in bed.

Blondie we have only had one big frost but most of the plants in the garden are frozen. It's just as well because my husband wants to have the garden cleaned up before his knee surgery next month. He is trying to sandwich knee replacement in between summer chores and winter plowing.

JM, So glad you received a letter. It does brighten your day. My oldest grandson writes to his Mom and she posts them for the rest of us. I am so surprised about his letter writing but it does make my day to hear how he is doing. I do know that they are very isolated and love even the most common place things.

Pat, I did a bunch of pillowcases yesterday but still have a bunch to go. I quit when I made a major, stupid mistake. Then I had to sit and pick a seam out. That is not one of my favorite things to do but, alas, I do it a lot. One of the other Navy moms made an extra special one for v.'s BF. Check out Heads at Ease to see the pictures. It is also posted on Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project. It is beautiful!! She wanted to do it because she lost two classmates in the WTC.

Raineegal, I hope Shai is home soon and under the care of a doctor who can get her on the road to recovery. She will feel so much better just to be sleeping in her own bed again.

NavyMom, When i ship pillowcaes I don't insure them but I sure mark them to be returned to sender. Way oo much work has gone into them to have them end up in lost mail. I hadn't thought about the insurance being only until the Navy takes charge of the package. You are probably right.

Got my letter today. Thrilled I don't have to hound the poor mailman anymore. She sounds good and hasn't sucumed to any bugs. I am glad I have sent many letters already because she is hungry for news from home.

Good morning! Today is sewing day. I'm making several pillowcases for sailors on the USS New York. These will be to commemorate the commissioning next month. Would love to be there to see it.

I'm headed off to bed. Good night all. May your sailors be safe from harm and may you get a peaceful nights sleep.

Wow - so much has been going on with everyone this weekend. I started working and it's amazing how much of my time it takes up. Not the work so much, but all the catching up on other stuff I have to do.

Lisa,
I am so glad you decided to go ahead and mail your letters. Mail is so important to the recruits in bc and maybe this will soften her heart towards you and help on the path of having a good relationship again. Please try to post when ever you can - we are all here for you and this is a good place to vent.

Pat,
What can I say that hasn't been said by the other moms. I am so sorry. I wish I had the power to make this all better for Jenn. Keeping her in my prayers.

I am so sad to hear about Mimi's daughter. If you are still checking in Mimi, I wish all the best to you and your daugther. Please come back and visit when it isn't so painful for you!!
Good to hear from everyone else - you moms are all so special to me - I hope you all know that.
Love to you all!!!
