Thank you Anna. It is extremely hard but I thought I did rather well in keeping my emotions in check. I did tell her how very proud we were of her and to stay strong. Also told her that as she grows it will get easier when everything starts to become second nature to her. She said she just missed hearing our voice so I really hope if we get another call it should be better. I got her letter even though it was written before our first call from her. I hope our letters to her helps.

Good morning ladies!  Winter finally found us, it's 12 degrees here with a wind chill of -2!  They're blowing snow at my ski area and I'm planning on skiing Sunday.  The dumb thing is that it's supposed to be near 60 tomorrow.  Talk about extremes.

Good Morning Everyone!!  Although for many of you it is now afternoon!!!  Sorry I've been absent over the weekend but I see we have new members!!!  So happy to "see" you here!!

PHXTCORRY,

I am so sorry you missed your daughter's call.  That is so heartbreaking, but I hope you get her next call soon.  And I hope your letters start coming on a more regular basis!!  Be sure to keep us posted with how she is doing!!  Does she have an A school to attend after boot??

Grape Mom,

So happy you got to talk to your daughter if only for a short while!!  It is so hard when they are struggling those first couple weeks.  We see it with so many recruits, including our own, but JayDee made some good points about how they do get stronger and much more confident as they achieve some goals and get stronger as a unit.  I really hope you get to see that in her next call.

Keep in mind, our daughters have to have that safe place where they can vent and for most all of them it us - - their Moms!!  It can be so hard to hear of their struggles and loneliness, their doubts, and frustrations.  But we have to be that encouraging voice to them to keep trying and stay strong.  As they build their skills, both as individuals and as a unit, things will start to fall into place.  In the meantime, we are left worrying about if they are really ok!!!  That's when you need the support from other moms who know exactly how you're feeling.  Always feel free to vent, complain, share, and BRAG here!!  We love to share this journey with you!!!

PHXCORRY oh no!!!! I'm so sorry you missed your call, but she WILL call back and you WILL get her letter. Then you'll have her address and you can write to her. Those bc weeks were torture for me but I grabbed my morning cup of coffee, sat down and wrote her every morning. It made me feel like we'd "talked". And trust me, your daughter will LOVE getting your letters, so write write write, it keeps our girls motivated and centered. Sending you and your girl hugs

PHXTCORRY, it can take a couple weeks to get the letter.  Have you gotten your "kid in a box" yet?  Mine arrived the same day as my letter.  If you are across the country from Great Lakes it might be held up in the Christmas mail rush.  Be patient, it will arrive.

She graduates Jan 20 in Chicago, I don't know the division number off the top of my head, I will look it up. She said she was able to write a letter, but its been over a week and I still haven't received it. How long does it usually take?
