bbcregular, sending prayers you daughters way, for a clear mind while studying, an unwavering focus during testing and the strength and endurance to get through it all. Hugs to both of you :)

Don't comment here much because daughter is at DLI studying a level 4 language. She seems to be struggling. I am hoping that she is using me as a sounding board and someone who can give her unconditional acceptance and love. Failure rate for her language is 34-50% according to one website. To date 40% of her class has failed and been assigned elsewhere. I have tried to convince her that the rest of the class will stastically make it to DLPT (the last test). She is taking all the extra study help classes she can plus doing all the Navy stuff like watch, colors, pt, and all the volunteer hours required. It makes me tired thinking of her schedule. Last week we had face time while she was doing her homework. I wanted to end the call so she could concentrate but she said she just wanted to be with us. Thanks ladies for letting me use this forum to vent a little. So proud of our girls and appreciate each of you moms.

Thank you Oleander!!  All in all, I'm happy to be back home.  But I do miss my girls!!!

Vickyrun,

So glad to see you again!!!  Haven't heard from you in awhile - how is everything going with you and your girls??

Comment by Anna on February 20, 2016 at 7:34pm

Shepshark,

These ladies are right - - our daughters are stronger than we think they are.  Both of my daughters went into the Navy.  Catherine spoke often while still in high school, that she wanted to enlist.  I also wondered if she could handle the intensity because she is such a gentle soul, but she did fine.  Her twin sister went to college but after two years started talking about going through the OCS.  I really worried about her with all the screaming done by the drill instructors and the extra PT they always had in the sand pit.  She would call me sometimes just sobbing so much I had a hard time understanding her.  But she made it - never faltered once!!!  I think they make up their minds that no one is going to break them and they make it through on pure determination.  And if your daughter doesn't make it through special ops, she'll still have a naval career.

I know this gives you much to worry about and I could never tell you not to worry!!!  We're Moms - - that what we do!!!  But you have many moms on here that will help you through.  You will not go it alone!!!  In the meantime, enjoy your time with your girl, make special memories you two can share in the months and years ahead.  Buckle up and get ready for an emotional roller coaster ride!!!!  But believe me, the joys far outweigh the sorrows!!!!!  Good luck to your girl and God Bless you both!!!

Shepshark our daughters are stronger than we know. I am sure you'll see that soon. Enjoy your time while she's home. My daughter joined in May and had a 12/7 ship date. They called on August 26 and asked her to report that night. You never know with the Navy get ready to be flexible and go with the flow. Until the day comes enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! And we're here for you too. Welcome!

Shepshark, What will happen? Is she will be sent home. Kids fail for one of two reason there are not physically or mentally able to handle it. Bootcamp is tough. The military breaks them down in order to build them up as a military team. I would say that the psychological training is harder then the physically. If your daughter can follow orders without question and knows she can succeed she will pass.

Morning All!

Blondie, thank you for the homeopathic cold remedies - already looked them up on Amazon.

Welcome "home" Anna, sounds like a great trip. Congrats to Jennifer & your son in law!

Welcome Shepshark :) We're here for you. The roller coaster is real but there's tons of support here.
