Pulliam 1991, my daughter is also an EN and she likes it, your daughter will too. Mine is currently stationed in VA and likes all the people in her space, I hope your daughter gets to go there :)

Navymom#5 I'm so sorry for your loss!!! My daughter is in A School also and I hope they were able to give hugs and support to your daughter!!! When my sailor girl was upset, they rallied and took her to chow and Nex, so I know there is a great supportive group!

Thanks Anna. My daughter is going to be a engineman(EN) and will stay in Great Lakes for A school. This will be the first time my daughter will not be at home for all the holidays. I hope she is progressing well.

Anna - lemon meringue pie is the best!  We had a pastor at church who's favorite was lemon meringue and would frequently slip it into his sermon and remind us that it prevented scurvy.  Very important for sailors on the high seas.  In any case, thank you, that made me smile thinking about that.

Hope your hubby had a wonderful birthday.

Good morning to everyone!  Winds 45 mph here today.  Hoping my trash can doesn't blow away before they come empty it...

JayDee,

So glad your daughter is liking her classes!!!  Hope she does well in school!!!

Sarahsmom,

I am so sorry that your daughter's classes will mean she can't take leave sooner. I so understand how difficult it is when we plan things and then find out the Navy doesn't like our plans!!  Our oldest son got married in '06  and his brother was supposed to be his best man.  Sailor Son was on deployment so oldest moved his wedding date back until we knew his brother would be back.  Well at the last minute the Navy extended the deployment by a couple months and sailor could not be there for best man duties.  However, he did write his speech and with my help we got it to the stand in best man. At the reception best man explained that he was a stand in for our sailor son serving overseas and that the following is his speech.  He read it word for word - there was not a dry eye in the place including the bride and groom.  It sucks, but that's part of this roller coaster ride we didn't think we were signing up for!!!!  It's hard to have a celebration or a good time when we know we are missing someone special.  I hope you can enjoy your cruise and your daughter will have a way to make her Christmas special.  I will keep your daughter in my prayers.

Navymom#5,

I am so sorry for your loss and having to tell your sailor girl by phone!!  I'm sure that the other girls in her ship will rally around her and help get her through this difficult time.  You are right to keep encouraging her to be strong and to keep watching for that finish line.  I will keep your daughter in my prayers also.

Jean,

So glad you survived!!!  Hang in there!!!

Pulliam 1991,

Welcome!!!  I sent you a personal welcome message on your profile page.  What job does your daughter want to do after bootcamp?? Let us know a little about you and your sailor!!

Had a nice day yesterday with the hubby on his birthday.  He had a coupon for a free lunch and then took him for mexican food and margaritas for dinner.  And of course, made his favorite lemon meringue pie!!!

Update ....My girl was able to call me tonight so I could tell her about her aunt. she broke down and it tore my heart out of me. I convinced her to stay strong and focus on the finish line and I would take care of her grandmother who is a mess. She just needs to get through the next couple weeks. She has come to far to fall apArt. She said all her friends would help her through this hard timd. And for thAt I am thankful she was placed with such awesome friends..... Thank u all for prayers and keep praying for Kelsey .....to stay strong
