Hi all! It's barely morning here so for most of you it's definitely afternoon!

Sorry to read about all of the issues over the weekend. I hope everything works out!

Anna, good to hear you're doing better - gotta love it when WE get waited on, right? Mostly tho just happy to know you're in less pain.

Had a crew of 9 here on Saturday. We started building the pirate ship. We're far from finished but here's a sneak preview of the bones of the boat- 20 pallets so far! We have a ways to go but 19 days in which to do it.

Julyasmom,

Your 2¢ worth is spot on!!!  When Jennifer was in college she encountered the same problem with young students who were on their own for the first time and just don't know how to conduct themselves.  Several years ago when my Sailor Son and his wife were stationed in NV they had a party at their house to celebrate someone's advancement.  It was a bring your own alcohol.  Well unknown to Son, one of the guests was underage and was drinking beer even tho there were sodas and other non alcoholic beverages available.  So underage drinker gets stopped going back to base and admitted where he was drinking.  The next day Son gets called in and questioned about it.  It really could have messed up Son's career but they believed him that a) he had no idea said sailor was underage and b) had no idea he was sneaking beers.  Son was just told to be more cautious in the future and now he makes sure all quests to any party of his is old enough to drink.  So even an innocent party with co-workers can become a major problem!!!  If your daughters ever decide to host a party make sure they are aware!!!!

bbcregular,

Your are correct when you say an event where officers are present would be problem free.  But I can also share that when my officer daughter got out of OCS and went to P'cola for flight training, she would quite often see other young Ensigns drinking to excess on the weekends.  She would try to tell them that they were only messing up their chances of being able to pass their training on Monday's but they only accused her of being a sissy!!!!  Even these young people, though they just commissioned as officers, are still young, stupid, and immature!!!!  I hope she is able to look beyond these immature idiots and is able to find other co-workers who think like she does and can have fun together without alcohol being involved!!!  And thank you for the encouraging words.  Yes, I am very grateful that this happened while we are parked and not having to close up,  hook up and travel.  I have a hard time getting in hubby's big truck!!  But we discovered that the folding foot stool makes it a little easier!!!!  I do hate these limitations but having the hubby wait on me is kinda nice!!!  After all his medical crises, I told him it's pay back time!!!!  At least the constant pain is gone now.  I can easily bend the knee but still can't put weight on it!!!  I go back to the VA on Wednesday and hope to get some good news!!!!

hellraiser,

Hope your daughter doesn't suffer the consequences of the actions of a few!!!!  Especially since she was with her family the whole time!!!!!  Let us know how she makes out!!

Thanks everyone for you comments and encouragement.

Julyasmom, my daughter went to college for 3 years and was hoping the military had order and rules with consequences. We are continuing to tell her that the trouble makers will not advance and most likely will not reenlist. The reality is that the next bunch of goof ups will have to be weeded through.

Hellraiser78382, she is at DLI in Monterey,CA. It does seem that this is a problem with young people that get out on their own for the first time.

Anna, she has been able to stay clear from partners all her life. She just thought that the Navy Ball with officers would have been a classier event. I hope she stays with the choir because she enjoys singing so much.
Anna, praying that you are healing and not getting too frustrated with the current limitations. If this had to happen glad it happened while you are settled in for the winter and not traveling to remote areas.

Sarahsmom, my daughter is mostly a loner because she was born mature and just does not act foolishly. It is difficult for our daughters to meet people like themselves because they are not looking for the next party but when they do meet like minded people it is a strong friendship. Maybe our daughters will one day cross paths during their Navy career.

Shawna, my daughter turned 21 while at DLI. She went out to an Asian restaurant and ordered what she said was a drink with an umbrella and asked the server to card her. The drink burned and her friends laughed at her and took the drink away because they said she was waisting it. But none of the friends had more than 2 drinks and we're back on base by 9:00. There has been one known underage drinking incident that will require military legal action. It is one of the students in my daughter's DLI class. May all our daughters stay safe and wise when it comes to making life decisions.

My daughter is keeping a low profile till classes resume on Tuesday. I just hope she does not become a loner because of this set back. She was doing so well and was very happy with everything.

Just to throw my 2¢ worth in...as I have always told my girl....you have all kinds in every group. If our girls had stayed home and went to college they'd still run into those who drank too much and the like....same if they had went to work in a shop. Just as I'm sure my girl would be being asked for her phone # and the like no matter where she was ...not just because she's in the Navy (she wears rings on both ring fingers to slow em down). But our girls can't let the others bad choices ruin their outlooks....because ultimately they will see it wherever they go.

BBC regular where is your daughter at? Mine called me this Morning and was telling me when she got back from me dropping her off her Command officer (or whatever they call him) was asking all of them all sorts of questions. SHe also said they might get there phase cards pulled cause people came back drunk and someone had been brough back by the police. Wonder if our kids are at the same place, or if this is happening else where also
