Good Morning to Everyone.

Catsmom, We are out of the rain for today. It is going to Canada today. We are suppose to high in the low 70's, but the rain will be back tomorrow. Just in time for my trip to Oregon. So I won't be on this weekend. NO internet where I am going.

Blondie, sorry the weather is playing havoc with your Fibro. I wish it would warm up for you.

2 days left and counting until the worse job I have had will be gone. YEA!!!!. Looking ahead to what the Lord has in store for me next. Everyone have a fantastic day.

Marybeth, Hugs

Rachael, my girl was also attached to the sip for deployment. She was stationed in GA. When they came home, she had to give our names relationship ect to the ship. It went through the Obudsman. They gave the list to the gate for homecoming.

Blondie and Jean, you can send your rain here. We are going to be back in the 90' tomorrow for the next several days.

Good morning ladies! I don't post often but love reading all the posts. My daughter has been in 2 1/2 years now & is on her first deployment. Does anyone know who my daughter would contact about getting her best friend on base when the ship returns? We won't be able to go since we'll be flying out to see her later. She's not "technically" part of the ship. She's assigned to it but not stationed at its home port she's actually stationed in another state when not on the ship. Thank you for any suggestions.

Blondie, I wish I could come work at your work so you wouldn't have to worry about it while at the wedding. If I don't find a job soon I will be working until I am 90. If I am anything like my mom it might be better that way. She retired and a few years later she died. My dad did the same thing. So I guess I am going to work forever. LOL.

You don't drown out there either. Rain can come down hard sometimes.

Comment by Oneofalot on March 25, 2015 at 8:27am

Blondie, we get rain too. So much we are getting flooding in places that you didn't think it could flood. LOL.

Splash, I bet that did feel weird for you!

Sure, I am happy to explain!  :-)  Both my son and daughter's rate is NF--Nuclear Field.  They keep the reactors running on the subs and the carriers.  He is an ETn-- Nuclear Electronics Technician.  He is in the control room, watching the computer for trends on how the reactor is operating.  She is an MMn--Nuclear Machinist's Mate.  She will be the one with the wrench, down in the reactor room, actually turning the valves and such, as the ETs dictate.  Her schooling is 3 parts, and takes about 21 (if you are lucky; sometimes the reactors are down for maintenance) months to complete:  A school, and Power School, which are 3 months and 6 months, respectively (an ET's A school is actually 6 months.)  They sailors in those schools are learning the basics of operating a nuclear reactor:  the math, the chemistry,  the book learning, if you will.  The last phase is Prototype.  In this phase, the sailors are taking their new knowledge and putting it to use on a live nuclear reactor, while continuing to learn the more intricate details of reactor operation.  From what I can gather, the subjects (which are classified information, so they won't share) at prototype are more independent study .  You are assigned certain topics, you go and do "look-ups", try to retain as much info as you can, and then find a staff instructor to do a "check-out."  There are a certain amount of checkouts that should be accomplished by the end of the week. It is a very fast-paced and mentally grueling environment, which is why my girl has been so stressed out lately.  She can learn the material, just not as quickly as they would like.  My understanding is that Nuke school is the mental counterpart to the physical part of SEAL training.  The difference being that a SEAL can ring the bell to opt out...

Been busy getting ready to go see Crystal, picking up a few of her favorite things from Trader Joes. Healthy snacks. This week is dragging by ever so slow..

Have a good night everyone, God Bless our Sailors and keep them safe.
