Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Good morning all! The ombudsman for our sailor's ship emailed us securely once she determined we were family. I'm trying to remember how we 1st connected but I'm pretty sure our sailor gave us the information -- I'm not a FB person either but I did create a page specifically for deployment. If used properly it's a fantastic way to communicate general stuff about where the ship has been (not where it is or where it's going). We even saw pictures of our sailor a couple of times, once in Singapore, off the coast of Africa and again when their ship responded to an SOS call from a civilian yacht - she was part of the rescue team. Of course I sobbed uncontrollably lol, but having information really helped when there were such long periods of no communication.
Once your sailor is assigned to her ship she can help you with the contact information for the ombudsman and the FRG. Don't worry, you'll have time!

Oleander, I looked for an ombudsman link on the ship's Facebook page but didn't find anything. I don't really know how to use Facebook but I am computer-literate. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Molly's Mom, you'll likely have better luck with your sailor than I did with mine.
Anna, if you make it to Vegas let me know. Allegiant now can get me there on an inexpensive and cheap flight. I'd be down for a meet up!

Oleander: Does the Ombudsman give you the info on Facebook? That makes me really nervous. Hopefully it's a call..? I really feel that Facebook is not OPSEC friendly.

JayDee that's hilarious!! Yes, Molly would probably forget the code. We will practice. They always had a code growing up for "I need to get out of this situation" whether others were drinking or they wanted to come home. This is a little like that.

You can also find the ship's Ombudsman (Facebook) and after he/she verifies you are the mother of a sailor they can give you all the necessary information.

Molly's Mom, if your daughter is anything like mine you'll need to practice it. Mine forgot! Thiswas important because I was meeting the ship for a Tiger Cruise and had to book my flight. Thank goodness I got an official email from her ship because she was off a day. We also have nicknames for several Navy bases.
