Hi, I am so happy to see some activity on this board.  My daughter has been an HT for 2 years.  She is currently stationed in Virginia.

Hi there I haven't logged in, in a long time. But I would be glad to answer any questions you may have. You can Message me on Facebook at Kirstie Owings. I'm a Wife and very proud of my HT. There is also a great Facebook group PIR alumni family and friends that has great info

My son is still in BC but is staying on in GL for A School.  Hopefully, he will be able to start school immediately after graduation for HT.

Hi Susan L,  this group is not very active but what info do you want?   My HT has been in over 10 years,  he basically says if it deals with welding or pipes (includes plumbing) he deals with it. HT's are necessary to the Navy as they fix stuff.  If you have other questions please feel free to contact me.

Hello, My son is on his way to Great Lakes A school for HT. I was part of another group for his first school so I'm just looking around for groups and info on his new rate.

Michelle,  does he have access to computer or TV that he might like some DVD's or credits towards online games.  those won't work when he's deployed, but the DVD's could be something he could take with on deployments.  I sent my son, while in Japan some marshmellow shooters and rubberband guns.   Although he tried them briefly and got a bit of fun from them, he remembered that he would be the one cleaning up the mess.  and gave them to a shopmate for his kids.   But I've heard Nerf guns can be popular, although once the "ammo" goes overboard if they are at sea, it's gone.
other thoughts might be a music player that he can listen while deployed if he is on a ship that does such.  If he doesn't already have one.   How much of a nerd is he?  that he might like "Magic Cards" or games for his computer or game system.   Mine is quite the nerd. Books he might like to read?

Hello everyone, my son is an HT at Norfolk, VA. He has duty on Christmas, so we will not see him for another holiday. Trying to figure out what to send him besides cookies and his candy. Any suggestions?

My son's PIR was 7/10 and didn't start school until the end of July. Don't let her get frustrated if it doesn't start soon. Some times it takes days others weeks. It's not unusual. This page and Navymom's, Great Lakes Facebook pages are very helpful if you have any questions or concerns.

Congrats!!  She just PIR last week 10-9 and hasn't started her school yet.  So far she sounds good.
