@HisMom(Ship9Div131)   I found this posting from a few years back about the ATF part. I'm trying to get more clarification as well.

"Advanced Training Field so it depends on how long he joined for to dictate if he gets a C school which is a more advanced proficiency school within the job like Super Welder or Weld Inspector."

@HisMom (Ship9 Div 131) Congrats on the new HT.   I will try to find out about the ATF part for you.

I don't know that mine knew any HT's  'til he actually started school.   They have set class schedules yours might have to wait a few weeks to start, but that is somewhat normal from what I hear.  They will have stuff for him to do til then, so he won't be getting too much time off, I think mine got some snow shoveling duty or something to keep him busy.  from what I understand there is a BECC class or Basic Engineering first, then they go to more specific for their rate classes.  Mine never went to a C school but right to a ship right after A School.

@all...finally found a posted picture of mine on his ship's fb site.  Will have to repost soon.  The ship got a backlog of mail today..it's like Christmas in April for them.

@Shiba Inu Mom  Welcome to the group,  mine is out to at sea as well right now, but from SanDiego.  We DO miss them, each time out does not get easier, just have a better idea of what to expect.

said he will be an ATF HT said it was different than HT and the training is different.  I thought they would all start out learining HT and then those moving up to ATF would get specialized in C school.  Can anyone clarify this for me?

He has not found another Hull Technician in Great Lakes yet.  There were Corpsman all over the place but we did not see one HT.  I hope this does not delay his A school training.   Anyone going through A school now?

I just left my son at Great Lakes.  He was sooo handsome.  He was back to his usual happy self by Sunday when we left.  It was good to hear him and his sisters sitting in the back seat of the car singing away to the radio.  A sound I have not heard in quite some time.

Hi Julie, how long has your son been a HT?

My son has gotten his final orders.  He graduates from A school on the 27th, gets to come home for a few days and then he is off to Norfolk, Va
