Thanks Charlotte--PIR should be prior to xmas unless something happens and he gets held back. Cameron's A school is at GL too. My hubby is retired AF and we met while I was in the AF when i was young so we both get most of it. but it is a little different so just trying to get a feel.

Thanks Teresa! That is what I think to...the navy is just enough different for us to not know what to expect. We have only been in Arizona for 2 1/2 years. But it's nice.

Hi everyone. My son leave Oct 5 for BC and will be going to HT school afterwards. Looking at the calendar we are guessing he wont start school until after the first of the year ...does anyone know if the HT school will let them out for the holidays? I know it is totally up the the commander but was wondering if anyone had a feel for the people in charge?

Welcome Yvone and Congrats to your sailor. That was a great question. I always wondered what they would do before A school started. Now I know. Thank you Mary! My son doesn't leave for boot camp until November but has enlisted as an HT. He is very excited to leave and move on with his life.

Thanks all, I look forward to being in contact again soon.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this group my son PIR'd on 9/2 it was so awsome to see my son, now a MAN, walking, talking, thinking different. I have been in my 9/2/10 PIR group and now that it's over I kinda feel like a lost puppy with no home. lol
We arrived home Sunday night, so I'm still feeling the after shocks of the GOOD BYES =( although it's been nice because he has called me several times. =)
This is what I know: he was to pack things up Monday night (he was still in BC barracks) van picks him up 6am to take him to "THE OTHER SIDE" as he calls it. His school starts Sept. 20 for HT, now what happens?? Will I be able to send him his phone?? What will he do for 2 weeks til school starts?? Please if any one has any info it would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

Thank you Charlotte for the great information. My son is very interested in becoming an underwater welder. He comes from a family of pipefitters so he is very familiar with it. I had heard that the A school is right in Great Lakes but hadn't heard anything about C School. Thanks too for the inside scoop of the higher he scores in his class, he may get to go where he wants. I know, I know, nothing is a guarantee. LOL.

My son will graduate from BC at the end of January (if all goes as planned). Thanks again for the info and if you think of anything else I might need to know, please let me know. :)

My son leaves for BC in November and has signed up for the Advanced HT program. Can someone tell me about this program and where his A school and C school will be located? I've heard wonderful things of the Navy and the hull tech program, but I just need more information. I'm new to this whole thing. Thanks.

I normally don't say too much, but my pride is in my son who just signed up for his third term. He is going back to being what he loves most as a Hull Technician. I like to honor my son and the Navy and fly their flag. If anyone is looking for a good quality flag to display (ex: American or Armed forces) go to usaflags.com. Best I have ever found on stitching and quality and colors. I don't know if I am allowed to promote them but flying the United States flag is part of being American, I believe.
