Valerie,
My deepest sincerest sympathies go to you and your family. I pray for comfort and peace to all of you. I'm glad Wes is there with you - give him hugs from us also!!!

Rene,
I'm glad (I think) that Jared knows my Chris. I do hope it was a good "oh that guy"!!!! Chris can be an extremely crazy funny guy (must be from his father's side!!!) It's good that he wants you to go to the reserve unit with him. Sometimes our young sailors get loaded with so much information that doesn't make alot of sense for them at first and it's good to have another pair of ears to hear all they give him. Assuming of course that they have any info for him!!!! I hope your daughter's housing situation gets straightened out soon!!

Patti Sue,
I'm sure you are right about your son. Just having a healthy and happy baby is the most important.

Dyon,
Love that picture!!!

Good Morning Ladies:

Valerie: I know the HUGE void that you are now feeling; my heart goes out to you. I know it will be hard on your twin not being by your mother's bedside with the rest of the family when she passed away. Please know, that the void becomes easier to deal with, each passing day. And, my dear husband and I both know the special sadness that comes from not being able to tell a loved one 'Good Bye'. Again, time does help heal that wound. Most of all at time time, you and your family continue to be in our prayers.

Rene: I just had to chuckle when I read the reason behind your "grrrrr". I know that feeling well! Since Jessica's (our former d-in-law) mother lives in the New England area; and when the Alpa Boy was stateside, his assignments were in New England and Mid-Atlantic states, Emma's other grandma got to hold her and snuggle with her so much. Now don't misunderstand, I truly do not begrudge Jess's mother those moments - I just regret that I was unable to spend time with Emma in person these past four years. Thank goodness for emails, telephones, etc. Here is a photo of Emma from their trip to one of the wineries in CA.:

Hello Ladies:

Wow!! I miss one day and I had to read through 4 pages of comments to get caught up!!!

Valerie: As one that has been through the loss of a parent, my heart and sympathies go out to you and your family. Please know I send you my hugs and my condolences!

Rene: Welcome to the GRANDMA CLUB!!!!

As I looked upon Emma today, I could still remember her so small in my arms some 4 + years ago. She is growing into a beautiful little girl - O.K., so this Nanna is a bit prejudiced, but with her long, naturally curled ringlets and blue eyes, she is beautiful. I can see my son her - so it helped me feel even closer to him. The Alpha boy telephoned Emma and her mom were driving out to see us - what a special day!

lol Anna, Vikki PMed me and said she had a headache. She thought it was the wine, I suppose it is the house! Good luck to you.

Vikki,
I am glad that at least for this home sale I am NOT living in it while trying to sell it. That was one thing I told the hubby was that I wanted to be all moved out before we put it on the market. The worst was when I had to sell the house in MD. Steve already moved to GA and I was left with all 4 kids and packing and showing the house. And the twins were 8 months old. It was spelled out in the MLS that if the twins were sleeping when someone wanted to see the house they would just have to skip the one bedroom. No way was I waking up two babies to leave the house!!!! Oh just the memories of that time gives me a headache!!!! :)

Vikki, I will let you know when I find it. My favorite from Cats is Magical Mr. Mistopholes. I actually like the poem by TS Elliot, McCavity the Mystery Cat so much that when I got a cat I named her MaCavity. I like a couple of the songs from Starlight Express also. I bet few have my record beat on Sound of Music. I believe I'm up to 39 times now! Loved Julie Andrews. Have seen Mary Poppins in excess of 20 times. (I think I'm a couch potatoe!) Argh!

tooswife1, I believe the minimum she will be on hold is about a week. She will have to go to medicals soon after she gets there so they can get her records filed there and she has some processing to go through. If she is not reporting until midweek then she may be on hold less time but I believe it varies quite a bit. As Anna said sometime they are there a few weeks waiting to class up. She will be busy during that time though doing other jobs on the base, PT, standing watches, 24 hour duty, etc.
About the phone, I would go ahead and take it to GL when you go for PIR just in case you are able to give it to her at the airport. Just because her orders say that she is not leaving until midweek does not mean that she won't leave on Sunday. If she does not leave until later, you can take it back home with you and ship it out the next day. Thanks for reminding me though about the address. I'll do that in a few minutes.
Has she told you which night she thinks she is doing battle stations? Let us know when you hear from her and tell Kayla that she's already got more moms pulling for her.

Tooswife1,
Ok - forgive the brain freeze there - if you are on the IS page I could assume she's going IS!!!! She may report to Dam Neck soon after PIR but be on hold there until they get enough to make a class. I think my son was on hold for about 3 weeks.
The other Moms here probably have additional info for you!!

Tooswife1,
It depends on her orders as to when she reports to her school. She should know this by the time she completes battlestations and knows when she departs GL. Some are grad and go which means they leave that Friday after graduation, others leave anytime up to a week or more after graduation. My daughter was there until the Wednesday after PIR, my son was a grad and go.
What A school is Kayla going to?

Barbara,
I share your love of musicals. While on a field trip to London I got to see the Buddy Holly story. Wish I would have bought the CD while there but we were all shuffled out so quickly afterwards I didn't have a chance. I've also seen Evita, Cats, and Mamma Mia. Those are the ones I remember right now - (keep in mind that post I made earlier about the memory problem!!!!)
