I know full well that, "YAY!!!!" feeling!!! Enjoy getting ready for Jared's visit - and of course, ENJOY his visit - no matter how brief!

Valerie, I can tell you that Wes was still there this afternoon. He was still in class yesterday and today. Maybe that will help to ease your heart somewhat. To know that they are obviously working with him, trying to help him in anyway they can.

Rene, I've noticed you are being the quiet one the past day or so. Checking in and running off! lol It's ok Mom, rest up while you have the chance between schools.

Vikki, I like the Beach Boys, can I come along? I'll have to post a story tomorrow about a very young Chris and the Beach Boys. I'm a bit tired tonight but I'll get it over in the funny kids stories discussion later.

Anna, 'doing ok, dear? You've been kind of quiet too but you know you are free to email me or call anytime if you need to.

Have a good night everyone. Maybe tomorrow night I'll have a little more time for catching up and reporting. Hugs to all.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Trust me ladies, girls don't seem to be any better when it comes to calling Mom. I was waiting for Catherine to call me yesterday just to let me know how her flight back was Sunday and when she did call it was just to ask for a recipe and said she had to go she'd call later - but then didn't. I guess I'm getting used to it!!! And since I come second fiddle to my daughter-in-law with Chris I don't expect regular phone calls from him. But that's ok - I get used to that also and I adore my daughters-in-law so I don't mind being second place!!! I just felt so at peace seeing all the kids this past weekend. I still sobbed like a baby when we had to leave. Sorry Rene, but we had breakfast at the same IHOP that Mary, Chris and Chris went to. Didn't see an ad for any Denny's! So we had our goodbys in the entrance to IHOP. But it was all wonderful while it lasted! I laughed so hard at some of their antics that I think I cracked a rib!!!!

But seriously, I agree with the other comments about the phone calls. Even when I do get those calls from Catherine I wonder why she is so ticked off and she'll just say - oh its nothing or something like that. Then as a Mom we just worry more that our sailors are unhappy or in trouble or something like that. I think next time I will try to remind myself that they are going through lots of changes and trying to figure out how to do things on their own - which is a good thing - - - - right???!!!!! I think that's another reason why this group site is so important to us. At least here we can share all those ups and downs and not feel like we're being judged or are judging our kids - because there are other Moms going through this with us!!! And Valerie, don't ever feel that you are spending too much time on your woes. You NEED to talk to us about all of it - just like we need to also. Sometimes reading what you are going through and some of the encouraging words back to you helps me see things in a different perspective. So see - you help me even as others are helping you!! Full Circle!!!

Mary, I was so surprised to hear about the bad weather that hit you and VA. When we were driving out of VA we kept seeing all these heavy equipment snow plows sitting and waiting along the freeway. But altho' we drove home to a little bit of snow I didn't realize we escaped the really bad stuff. I haven't talked to ChrisA yet to find out how much snow they got. Some people are trying to convince me that spring is comming - but I'm not sure. We are in the teens again today!!! I'm tired of freeeeeeeeezzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggg!

Well, I got up early to get ready for school and sure enough they put us on a two hour delay.

Rene, if you are working today have a productive day and I hope your regulars are back now.

Valerie, thanks for the kind words. I may have to get Wes to have a talk with my son and tell him to call his mommy.

Anna, sorry I forgot to include Washington in the list. I knew I was missing one and then remembered it when I getting in the bed.

Ladies have a good day. I might make it back on before I have to leave for class. if not I'll check on everyone tonight.

Anna, You posted as I was typing so I hope I've saved you a bit of time!
Comment by Mary (Chris' mom) on March 2, 2009 at 10:39pm
Hi Rene!, I didn't mean to worry you and was going to reply when you mentioned that I was AWOL last night. The class was cancelled for today because of the snow. I've not seen anything yet about tomorrow (maybe a two hour delay as a lot of snow melted today and it's supposed to get into the teens tonight and refreeze). I am alright though, I've just really been in a somber mood the past couple of days.
I'm beginning to get a bit worried, frustrated, aggrevated? with Chris for not answering phone calls, texts, emails, etc. I understand that he is "growing up" but I'm not sure that he is maturing. The only thing I've gotten from him lately was his score on Friday's test and a "Wow" yesterday when I sent him a pic of the snow on the phone.
I've been worried about Valerie and keep coming back in to check on her. I knew the other day that her mom was having some problems and that was not long after she had more info from Wes. I have felt so badly for her but not really knowing what to say and nothing really I can do for her or Wes either one and that bothers me. I guess I have just felt that I really didn't have anything to say that would be informative or beneficial to anyone so I've just kept to myself. Is Jared still celebrating?

Valerie, I hope you get to hear something positive from Wes tomorrow. I know how anxious you are and I can't even imagine the anxiety and frustration he is going through. Being there without a familiar support network and dealing with all that. I am glad though that the instructor is trying to get him some help and hopefully trying to work with him.

Anna, I'm so glad you are home safely. I kept a watch on the weather rollong in and was hoping you would be able to avoid it. I am glad that you had a good time. You seemed more positive in your post. I hope everything went ok with Catherine and that maybe you found some relief there.

Dawn, are you doing alright? Have you heard from Christopher since he got to Norfolk? I hope it went more smoothly for him than Brendan's adventure.

Ellen, did you give your kids a snow day or make them slave away at studies after their week of recouperation? I took last night off from reality and went sledding. Yup. Went out to the storage building got one of the faster sleds and down the hill I went. Once I made it back up the hill I began the sledding part rather than the slipping down part. lol I did have fun even though it wasn't quite the same without Chris and a couple of his friends here.

Vikki, I'm glad you are also back and thanks for the info and comments in the discussion areas. Some of that stuff I don't think I'll ever learn. It's good to have you back though and I'm glad you had a respid from the winter weather.

Dyon, same to you as well for all the info. It so nice to have you moms whose sailors have been in the fleet for a while to help the rest of understand (or try to) what is going on and what we may expect later on.

Ladies, I hope everyone has a good night. My corner of the world is peaceful tonight because of our sailors in Iraq, Bahrain, England, Virginia, Great Lakes, California, Hawaii, and on the seas, (I'm sorry if I missed anyone). Peace be with each of you as well my friends. Good night.

Valerie and Rene,
Mary hasn't been on here since Saturday. She was saying that she was having some problems with the site and was going to have to look for some tech support. She may not be able to post comments. (Plus she was going to be starting her new class so maybe a combination of both) Maybe us Intel Moms have to do a little investigating!!!!!!

Welcome back Vikki!!! We missed you.

Ellen,
I agree with Valerie - putting the info into a discussion would give more room on the page for comments but it doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. If others would rather have it on each page to see it then that would be OK too

Valerie,
You are welcome - we will wait patiently until you hear something while continuing to pray that the best outcomes for Wes happens. I didn't think they were getting snow there after we left. I guess all of our family members driving escaped that bullet!!!

Good Afternoon Moms,
I am back from the most wonderful weekend trip to VA. I didn't care that it rained the whole weekend - we still walked out on the beach Saturday! It was cold, windy, and wet but who cares!!!! We got there late Friday and ChrisA had duty so as soon as he got off he picked up Catherine and came to our hotel. We were staying right on the beach which was cool!! Anyway Chris ended up getting a room there for Friday and Saturday and all of us were in 3 rooms all next to each other. Chris's Amanda was the last one to get in - she was actually babysitting for the family she had been staying with. We had so much fun everywhere we went - Steve and I were afraid we were going to get kicked out of a few restaurants!!!!! We met the boyfriend Daniel and he spent Sat night sleeping on the floor in our room with Steve, both girls, and me!!! Basically there were people all over the place all the time!!!!!! I got a picture of me and my two sailors so I will try to get it on the page later today.
Anyway, when I was driving back late last night it was 16 degrees and snowing!!! It was blowing so bad sometimes I could hardly see the road. Jennifer kept telling me to turn around and go back to VA!!!!!

I am so happy to welcome our new moms on here!! I have some catching up to do and I also have movers coming today to pack up the last of Catherine's things to ship to her in WA. I hear we have another Chris and Amanda, husband and wife team!!! How great is that!!! And we have more Chrises related to this group one way or another!!!!!
I missed talking to everyone this weekend. When I was in VB I couldn't help but feel that I was close to just about everyone's sailor one way or another. Never did get anywhere near the Dam Neck base but did shop at the NEX in Oceana!!! Got a cool shirt that says "NAVY - been there, done that"!!!
Well I'll check back in later on! Have a Great day everyone!!!
Anna :)

Valerie, I sent you an email also. We are all waiting to hear some good news for Wes. Keeping him in our prayers!!!!

I see Ellen got an answer on SSO = Special Security Officer, so I won't further elaborate.

Rene:
Good to know that you had better day at work! ! You are welcome for tips in the mountains.

Rene:
I am keeping you and your mom in my prayers.
