Good Evening Ladies,

Do you know what I just figured out?? I am on a different time table than the rest of you!! By the time I get on this site and catch up on all the news everyone else is done!! I need to get on earlier so I can actually "talk" to my friends live!!!
Rene, I love this group also. I keep in touch with a few other groups but none that I look forward to getting on as much as this one!!! I hope your shower went really well. I think it's good tho' that you let the son-in-law know that whatever it was he did to your daughter is not something that you are just going to forget about right away. He should know that he has to work to earn back your trust. I don't know - but I think he should have to squirm a bit!!!! I am so glad that things are going so much better for Jared.

And Valarie I'm sure Wes enjoyed a chance to get away from studying and enjoy a day! Don't we all need a chance to clear out some cobwebs!!!

Dawn - love the cake!!!! I kind of understand what you are going through with Chris's "going off to sea". I went through two deployments when my Chris was an AO. I told him that even if he is really busy to try to take just a few seconds to send me an email that lets me know he's still there!!!! Even if it's just one line. Then when he had a little longer time he would send me a longer email to let me know how he was doing!! I am glad that he waited until he got back on American soil for him to tell me about the time he was almost blown off the flight deck!!! And a few other stories I can't share on here!!! I just want to say I have EARNED everyone of my grey hairs!!!!!!

Well enough rambling for now!!!

Tammy so Jared and TJ are next door to each other!? That's great! It seems to help break the ice sometimes if we help to break it for them. My Chris has enjoyed getting to know Anna's Chris and seems ok with the fact that Anna and I chat here.

Rene, I'm so happy you are feeling better about Jared's choices. Maybe you can relax just a bit now too. Knowing that he is doing so well (even though he always talks as though he is on the verge of failing), and he is finally making positive decisions for the right reasons, and he is asking for and getting some help from higher ups, may ease your mind. Now you can go concentrate on keeping your mouth shut for the day! lol Be easy on the son-in-law, even if you do want to kick his butt.

Dawn, I know there is nothing really to say to you at this point except that we know a little of how you will feel and we will eventually know it too well. I understand that there will be the deep hole for a while until he is settled and you know he is well off again. I do hope he does not have the problems that Barbara's Brendan had when he arrives at Norfolk. Enjoy Christopher while you can (I don't need to tell you that though) and may he have a safe journey. Awesome cake! Soon you will be able to go see your sailor girl!

Valerie, The Chrises just finished week 4 so that's unit 5? Hopefully Wes will hear that he gets to class up again this week. I'm glad things are beginning to improve for him as well. I bet he won't fail another room inspection!

I missed a couple of posts . . . .

Valerie,
What wonderful news for Wes. I'm sure things are going to start getting better for him!!!

Welcome Tammy! And congratulations to your son for finishing A school. What an accomplishment!!!

And Rene,
I am so happy that Jared is almost finished with A school. I'll be saying a prayer for his exit exam!!! Maybe he and TJ will be in C school together!!

Good Evening Ladies,
Just wanted to send a note out to all my friends here. Today is Christopher's first wedding anniversary. I sent a quick text out to him and his wife today. Amanda sent one back that she is on her way from CO to visit with Chris this weekend and all next week. Then next weekend we will all be meeting at VA!! My daughter should be flying in sometime on Wednesday. I just wish it was a long weekend. We'll only have one day to spend together. But I will take it and be grateful because it is better than none!!!!

Valerie,
Congratulations on the nuptuals announcement. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. What a wonderful time!!!

Rene,
I loved the comments you made earlier about the understanding of the moms on this group. I so agree with you. This past week has been tough for me. I am getting all my daughter's things ready for the Navy to come pack up on the 2nd of March and move to her. As I go through her things I just keep remembering the days when we were all together, having fun girl time, and remembering her last few days at home when we packed up all this stuff. I've just been missing her so much this week!!! I hope you have a very nice shower tomorrow!!! Sorry your other daughter is going through a rough time right now. I hope everything works out for her!!

Nice to "meet" the new moms. Looking forward to getting to know you and hearing about your sailors.

Mary,
What an awesome story!! It gave me goose bumps just reading it. God needed you to be there that night for that mom. How wonderful that you were there and open to listening to the other mom.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Rene, Yeah for Jared as well. So he has made his final choice to stay at school? I'm glad it would be a shame to see him leave it after doing so well.
Tammy I am so happy it's what he wanted. Way to go Tammy and TJ!

Congratualtions Tammy!! Bravo Zulu to TJ!! You should brag, and brag more often. Was OpIntel his first choice? It's graet that he gets to start "C"school right away. Tell him thank you for serving and if you don't report back to us, tell him good luck!

Good luck Valerie, a wedding on a budget? Ever heard of the word elope? Oh well, everyone needs one big day in their life and it sounds as though they have waited for their's plenty long.

Hummm. Call your Dad, it's windy and cold here too. Although not as cold as Juewsey! I'm opposite in one respect, I had a 3 1/2 and a 4 1/2 acouple of weeks ago for one day and it about drove me crazy! I don't have the patience I used to have. I've told Chris that if he has kids before I've mellowed back out a bit he's better live on the West Coast. He knows I'm kidding but I'm not ready to be a grandmother yet. Have a wonderful day, Patti Sue.

You are right Patti Sue, that's the way I've tried to look at it. For the time being I know where he is and that he is ok. I had it all brought home to me the night I thought Chris was doing battle stations. I decided to stay up with our guys all night in support of their efforts. Around 2:00am one of our NC moms added a comment to my page and I happened to catch it. I asked why she was up so late and she said she had a very uneasy feeling about her older son who is attached to the Vella Gulf. She was scared because the Israeli/Palestinian conflict had become a full blown conflict the day before and she knew his ship was only a few hundred miles away. She also had not heard anything directly from him in weeks and her emails continued to get bounced back to her.
We emailed each other for about a half hour, I told her I was up and she was welcomed to call but she said no, she didn't want to wake her husband and son. I told her I would send out some emails to other moms asking for their prayers for her and her son.
Just as I came back to email her again she sent one to me that her son had just gotten a brief email to her! She was still concerned but she knew that he was alive and able to email. That gave her enough comfort that she was able to return to bed and sleep. Then, I knew why I had stayed up all night. It was not for our sons at bc but for a mom who needed to know someone else was out there and understood in the middle of the night. I thanked God for allowing me be there when she needed someone to be there.
No we won't always have the comfort of knowing where they are and that they are safe. That's one reason I don't hassle Chris too much about calling me every couple of days. I know eventually there will come a time I might not hear from him for a couple of months. It's something we will have to learn to cope with. But I'm so glad that we have this website to turn to in the middle of the night. You never know when someone may be on, or to just leave a post that everyone can read the next day. Sometimes it's a comfort just getting your thoughts and feelings out there where others can see it.

lol I agree Rene, we didn't know how easy teething really was! I believe they do move when they go from "A" school to "A" school. When I was visiting Chris his barracks were across from the parking lot and down one building. When he came back to the car he mentioned that the barraks directly across from the lot were for the "C" school students. If I remember correctly, Dawn or Ellen commented that the "C" school folks don't have to stand watches so maybe the barracks have more security cameras or they use the "A" school students or MA students to cover their barracks.
I remember a comment I read a long time ago that when they are in school (this applies to the general "A" schools, and "C" schools) they may have to move several time so one mom had suggested that they still travel pretty light.
Chris so wants a TV in their roon and now that he could pick up a decent 19"LCD for $250 it wouldn't be such a bad idea if he knew that he was having shore duty for a while or that he was going to have to wait a couple of months to class up for "C" school. I don't think it's a good idea until I KNOW he is doing well in school consistantly.
Valerie, maybe Wes will find out over the weekend if he is getting to class up with the Chris' on Monday. That would be good. If nothing else I'm sure he would be glad just to be able to get back into a room. Has he said whether he will go back to the same room? I know Chris' roommate is not in his class. Tyler is a week ahead of Chris. Maybe We's roommate being ahead of him, could be a good thing for Wes, if that's the case. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him!
Tooswife, you can look at the NEX mall for the electronics or you can also go up to Gurnee Mills Mall. I'm not real sure what they have up there. Circuit City was still open when we were there and that's where Chris got his iPod. If I remember correctly they do have a Sear's there and a lot of other stores too. Chris bought his iPod and was ready to go back to the motel (we stayed almost across the interstate from the mall) to get it set up on his laptop. It took him a while to do that. My brother-in-law walked him through it. He also picked up and iPod music card the following day so he could start downloading off the internet.
Also keep this in mind as you are making these purchases, their plane may not take off from the airport until 11:00am but they will likely be loaded on the bus and taken to the airport at 5:00am. Or she may even be grad-and-go or she may leave out on Saturday (rare, but not unheard of) and you will have to be there early enough to find her. I am not sure but I think they fly out of both O'Hare and Midway, we got lucky that Chris flew out of O'Hare about an hour and a half before us. They won't know their flight arrangements until the last minute. We were able to get there just in time to get Chris' phone to him and one other guy's to him as well. They do have to check in at the USO office again so if you have to leave like the night before maybe you could take the electronics to the USO office for her to pick up when she gets there. I don't know about that for sure. Just go with the flow and have fun until you have to worry. It's a rushed weekend that you will cherish. She will know her addy at the school very soon after she gets there so you can be ready to send stuff to her on Monday if that's what you need to do.

Chris told me that regular mail goes to the NEX for pick up. I believe what I send him insured also goes to the NEX but if it is uninsured it goes to the school building. But yes, I've heard from most everyone that it's best to use USPS rather than FedEx or UPS.
