Anna, is there going to be time enough before her choices are final that you will be able to have that talk with her while you see her at VB? Maybe you can get her to understand that you need to talk to her as much as you think she needs to talk to you. I know it may be hard to get that time away from her boyfriend but as I said before, Mom will win in the end. It is so difficult to see your kids grow up away from you. Of course every parent says at least once, "I've been there and I know." And of course every child says at least once, "Times have changed and..." So many times you can't do anything but stand by and wait to try to sweep up the pieces and see if together you can glue them back together. :( You will both be in my prayers tonight.

Valerie, If the Reservists are like the full time guys, they should have access now. I know Chris asked several times about his and someone there at Dam Neck was trying to work out some glitches but he has since then gotten his printed.

Dawn,
Just had to look at a map of Oahu to find out where that is. How exciting for her. I'd love to go back to Hawaii for a visit. You need to take some pictures you can post on your page so we can all drool on our keyboards!!!

Oh Mary,
That is so funny!!! I'm not totally sure what is going on with my daughter. There seems to be a couple serious issues and I need to get some time to talk to her on the phone again. I hate doing some of these serious conversations by phone but I don't have a choice. I know we have to let our kids grow up and make their own decisions (and deal with their own consequences of those decisions), but how do I stand back and watch her make some BIG mistakes without trying to step in and get her back on track????? I really thought she was ready to go off on her own - - now I'm not so sure. Of course, now I can't do anything about that.

Anna, I was telling a friend about the IMs and the MOCs and MOTs and we decided you should just be Momcat (Mom of Chrises and Twins). Of course your daughter should be included, is she still not adjusting to Washington? It's hard when you feel that they could really use a little mom time and yet you are so far away. :( It's good tha you arre able to talk to her but as you said sometimes talking on the phone is just not as good as that face to face. I'm so sorry that she is struggling as well. Is Mom holding up alright?

Rene,
Sounds like you need to get some rest real quick. Careful you don't burn yourself out!!!
Barbara,
Have you heard from your son yet? Have they figured out where he is supposed to go?
Dawn,
It sounds like you deserve every minute of your well-earned vacation. One thing I remember about Hawaii is that it can be sunny one minute, then rain for 5 minutes and then go back to sunny! Is your daughter stationed at Pearl Harbor?
Mary,
Officer is a bit much - I'll take Chief!!!
Valerie,
I'm hoping and praying that things for Wes settle down for him and he gets to get back to taking his classes and all the other nonsence gets out of his way. Maybe it will be good if he gets to class up with our two Chrises. (Does anyone know what the plural of Chris is?!?!?!?!) At least he could have some good moral support. I feel so bad he is having such a rough go of things.
Vikki,
I think I'll drink a glass or two of wine for you so you can get those taxes done!! You know sista' - anything I can do to help!!!!
Love and hugs to all - and prayers for all our sailors. (Can we include my daughter in that prayer request also?)

I suppose we are going to have to promote Anna to Officer, IM (MOC/MOT).

I agree Dawn. You deserve it. I hope you have a lot of sunshine and fun, fun, fun! I hope you get a few pics of the islands to post also!

Barbara, have you heard from Brendan yet? Were his orders written for a specific ship or for shore duty at Norfolk? I know he must be tired and frustrated and overall confused. I hope they can get him settled in quickly.

Valerie, I don't know what Unit the Chrises are on. I've not heard from my Chris since Sunday after we left to come home. If I'm not mistaken though this was the week that they were doing the first round of "platforms". This is their third week of class, whatever unit it puts them in. I know they've had two tests and one brief. I hope things get settled for Wes as well soon. He will do fine I'm sure. He's had a little time to think things through.

Ellen, hmm...two at 15. Sounds challenging but I guess I'd better wait until my company decides if my layoff is permanent or if they are bringing me back to work (I do know how much they eat). Can I get back with you on that later? I never really felt qualified to be a (MOT).

Vikki, Let me see if I've got my rating correct. I'm a IM (MOC)? Cool!! Won't my son be impressed? I got my rate and specialty before he got his! (and I didn't have to PT)

Dawn, as much as Mother's Day in Hawaii sounds, my dogs would miss me. And on the off chance that Chris does get a leave between schools I don't think I could push him out the door a couple days early so I'll have to bow out. I could however send my Mom in my place and she could talk all of you half to death. (I wouldn't do that to you ladies).

Anna, do you have any idea what unit the guys are on? I'm sure if there could possibly be a fun way to learn platforms your Chris will find it. Having been in the feet already and seeing battle groups day in and day out our ships will be fairly easy for him, I'd think.

Rene, let us know which Jared decided. If the hard part (platforms revisited) is truely over or if it indeed gets even harder. I think he temporarily felt so relieved to be done with platforms that he thought the bad stuff had to be done with. I dread it for the rest of the guys!
