I suppose Thursday must be brief day. If I remember correctly both the Chrises are doing a brief today as well. I believe Chris told me the other night that they are going to be starting on "platforms?" and then after they learn a bit about them then they move on and come back to them in the Dreaded Unit 6. Does that sound right? Anything beyond that I don't know, what platforms are I don't know, when they start it I don't know either. Do I sound like Ellen? " I know no-thing!" Hmmm, Ellen Shultz and Mary Shultz! Oh no, I feel another name thing beginning! I'm outta here.
Valerie I hope your mom's appt. went ok.
Anna, Are you doing alright? How are your kids doing?

All of my Mom's family grew up and lived in a small town in Northeast Ohio. My sister and two brothers also live right close by - my Dad still lives in the same house we all grew up in but we do not have a good relationship with him. He only communicates to my sister and one brother - when he needs them. He hasn't spoken to me since my mom died. So in a way I lost my dad also. I live about an hour away so I will be going to the funeral. I'll probably stay with my sister for a day or two. My sister and I are close - she's 11 years younger than I am but we have fun together. She doesn't have any children tho' so she really doesn't understand how it feels to watch your children leave. But I don't hold that against her!!!!

My IS Mom friends,
I have a sad heart tonight. My sister just called about an hour ago to tell me my uncle passed away. This normally would not be such a big deal but you see my mom had 5 other siblings. Her side of the family was always so close from my grandparents on down to all us cousins. In 2007 one of her brothers passed away. It was surprising - we all thought he was healthy as a horse. Turns out he had cancer. Another brother died back in 95 or 96 of cancer but we felt that was an isolated case. One sister died years ago. But then last year my mom got sick and within 2 1/2 months lost her battle with lung cancer. We were all shocked - she never smoked or had any of the risk factors. Two weeks after she died, her sister passed away from breast cancer. We learned of her diagnosis while my mom was in the hospital. I never got to get out to visit her because I was so wrapped up in my Mom's situation. That left one brother, who by all accounts was doing fine. It's been 7 months since my Mom died and in a little over a year and a half we've lost 4 members of the family - and now the last one of that generation. This is just really hitting me hard because it brings back all that loss I felt after my Mom. And after that my daughter left for the Navy and then my son went back in. I just can't help but feeling like I'm losing everyone around me.
I'm sorry - I know this is such a depressing post - I just needed to "talk" to someone.

Good Evening all!! I have an interesting question - we know Wes's class is on week 7&8 (or somewhere around there) and Mary's and my Chris are on week two. Are there other classes inbetween these and do we have any Mom's on this site that have son's in those classes? Chris told me that there are some females in the class also - where are the mom's of the girls?!?!?!

Welcome Sabrina - I hope you get lots of phone calls from that new cell phone over the next few days because it seems once the classes get going the phone calls become less and less!!!! :)

Rene, hope you are feeling better after the grueling day you had.
Yes Mary - I'm afraid our days of terror, worry, and "on our knees" praying are coming in a few weeks!!!

Rene, I hope today was not so bad for you. I'm glad that things sound a bit better for Jared today. I was really getting worried about only four passing! I'm glad they got the second chance. Did Jared say what is become of the four who did not pass today?

Valerie, and Anna are we taking notes here so we know when to REALLY worry? I think Ellen, Dawn, and Vikki are sitting around laughing at us for going on so. They've been pretty quiet. Humph! Dawn's packing bags for that trip to the big island.

Sabrina, Welcome aboard! We do what we can to support each other although as you say we don't know much. Come along for the adventure, btw, you've got a nice lookin' sailor there! He looks happy and ready to go. It's good that he got his cell phone and that he is closer. Maybe by the time he finishes you will be able to make it to see him. I'm going this weekend to take my son's car to him so if there's anything I can take to him let me know and I will do whatever I can.

Valerie, That does sound like Chris. When he would write from bc each week he would make comments on things I had written to him but mostly he would tell me how he felt rather than what was going on. I felt like I was always in the dark. Other moms would say, "Oh they're getting ready for a PFA or they have a test coming up", Me? I'd say, "Chris says there are a lot who like to run their mouths or I'm having a problem with push ups or I've thought a lot about Haley (his g/f). " The lil' brat never informed me of anything! It was all I could do to get him to tell me what was going on after PIR. I'm like, "Son at least tell me if you're grad and go!"
I'm sure after I see him this weekend, I'll lighten up on him some. NOT! I'll still be his mommy whether he likes it or not.
