Valerie it's good news although not the very best news but Chris was led to believe by his instructor that, "they would rather send a guy into the fleet who makes a 75 and knows what he is doing than to send out a guy who makes a 95 and really can't perform the job. In a sense that's what I've often said of industrial and mechanical engineers. A lot of them come up with stuff that looks like a sure fire winner on paper but with no way to produce it. Kind of like saying if we just move that boulder we can get through but having NOTHING with which to move it.
Yes, if Wes wants this, he will be sucessful. He's having his second chance and it seems that he is going to try even harder than before. You never know when the light bulb will click on and suddenly he will say, "That was so easy, why didn't I see it before!" He will do it Valerie. Have faith in him and in God and your prayers. If it's ok I am going to copy and paste your post to send to Chris so he knows what to expect if he does not pass. Thanks for the update. I'd really prayed hard for Wes and the silence today was about to drive me crazy! (Geez, you'd think he was mine!)
Have a good evening and try not to worry about it again until next week.

Kristal, welcome aboard! Glad to see you here and to bring some more field experience with you. Ellen is the only other one here right now who has someone out of school and on assignment. The rest of us are still learning. I look forward to hearing about Wayne's experiences as IS.

Valerie I'm also saying prayers for Wes and as Rene said they were smart enough to qualify, if this is what they want they will find a way to do it. Leave it to the Lord and if He brought Wes to it, He will help Wes through it. (Taken from another dear NAVY mom)

Ellen, I've not heard of those particular cities but I know there is a lot of hang gliding done in the mountains near us as well. Chris and I just started a few weeks before he left for GL. It's easy at the dunes. I belly-flopped all my landings but it didn't hurt in the soft sand. Chris landed on his feet each time. I believe you have to have a H4 certification before you can attempt most of the mountains here. We are still working on our H1 and will have to rent gliders like 4-6 more times before we get to H2.
Yeah these kids do have some funny priorities. Chris finally called home tonight. During this "finacial class" he's done the past two days, he signed up for life insurance and disability. I didn't balk until he told me how much life insurance he had bought. I told him, "Son you aren't married and don't have kids, you don't need that much insurance". Well he thinks for some reason that if something happens to him, I'm going to need this huge amount of money. I told him he should use the money he is spending on premiums to put towards college, retirement, or just having fun money. Nope, nothing I said could sway him. What do you do? Let them learn...

Rene, I hope Jared likes our state. It's impossible to tell though by only seeing a bit of it. The one thing about living on the coast and having mountains is that the terrain and history vary so much. Even the weather here can be so different just within 45 miles. I can drive towards the mountains 50 minutes and it be 30 degrees and snowing, come home and it's almost 45 degrees and raining, then drive 50 minutes toward the coast and it could be 55 degrees and sunny. I hope he has fun and gets a little R&R.

Hello Everyone! My son is waiting to start "A" school at Dam Neck, I hope it's ok to join you guys as I had to go through 26 pages of groups to find one for IS? How far are your kids?
