Kim, just a FYI...Dyon lives in eastern Montana. Congrats on your sailor going for additional training.

Carl and Irene,
I grew up in Roseburg! Still have family and friends there although I am living in Montana now. I wasn't aware there were many, if any, people from Oregon in this
Group... My son has been deployed on an aircraft carrier and is now slated to come back to Dam Neck in a couple weeks to start Ground School.

lol, BarbRags...it does seem that way, doesn't it? Okay, we can tell you what our kids tell us (which is very darned little). My son used to look away from me and say, "Mom, I can't tell you that without your security clearances." Now he just looks at me and says, "That's OPSEC."

With IS isn't always classified???  lol

Sara'sMom, sit back and hold on to the grab bar!!! Really, after awhile it all become rather ho-hum. I guess most of the time the folks here are either the "oldies" with exciting news about their sailor, or newbies who have a lot of questions during boot and school. Welcome to the group and if you have a question we will try to get an answer (unless it's classified :-) ).

Hi, I am a recent mom to the IS community.  My daughter is in BC with a PIR 7/3. She will be headed to "A" school in Dam Neck VA after graduation.  Any other moms out there at the same phase I am...or any advice/info from other alumni moms?  Thanks.

Carl and Irene, Greetings! Such wonderful news about Cam! It must be a Japanese thing.

Chris and Liz are expecting their first baby this fall. You know how the boat's schedule runs, Chris will likely not be able to be in Japan when the baby is born. He is checking into the possibility of a temporary shore duty assignment so he can fly back ahead of the ship and stay there for 30-90 days.

Like Cam, his time there has been extended. Since he took Liz with him and she was not on his original orders, they are requiring him to stay an additional 4 mos. If he decides to re-up then it's no biggie anyway, but if he decides to come out it would put him another semester behind in school, and having to find a job at the same time all the college grads are applying.

He commanded a Color Guard last week at a retirement ceremony. He was so pumped...that was his first one since leaving NJROTC in high school. He was supposed to participate in a Drill and Rifle exhibition when he was on board the BUSH during a Tiger Cruise, but I ended up at the hospital and he opted to stay with me. I really hate he missed out on that one. :-(

Great to hear from you and I'm glad you have gotten settled in Oregon. I will probably email you before too long and update you a bit more. Navy hugs to you, Irene and Cam!
