Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OCS Class Beginning 1-30-11 - My Son is in this Class - Anyone Else?

My son Nick will begin OCS on January 30, 2011.  Does anyone else have a LO beginning OCS on that date?

Hi Tina- I am not all that familiar with FB either. I did the FB group the best I could by myself. Who knows if I am doing it correctly, but I'm trying. Actually this N4M blog is my first blogging experience. Good Luck setting up your FB page.

My daughter Alicia began on January 30, 2011 as well.  She graduated with a Civil Engineering degree and is accepted for pilot training.  It's encouraging to read about your children and to know that she will be getting to know all of them.  She had already met many on Saturday at the gate at Dulles waiting for the final leg of the flight to Providence.  She is born and raised in Florida so the weather is going to be a shock for her, besides being away from her large and close-knit family and boyfriend.

My son is Ryan, he too was accepted for pilot training. He has a chemistry degree from LSU. He has been working in the DC area for 3 years. He is originally from the New Orleans area where the winters are quite mild. She will adjust to the weather. Besides I understand all exercises and PTs  have been in the gym. They only go outside to move from building to building.

I hope Ryan has met Alicia by now. I'm sure they will be training together when they get to Pensacola, FL. How far is her home town from there?  We will only be 4 hours away. His dad and I look forward to driving on weekends to visit.

I think I read about Alicia on the FB page, that she was in holding. I 'm sure she will be ready to move along in no time. Keep us posted on her progress. My thoughts and prayers are with all of our LOs during this diffucult time.

 Tina-Have you heard from Nick?  Ryan called his fiancee Monday evening. He is ok and being challenged. He will call her and she and I will call one and other. Would like to hear from you. Pam

Hi Pam - Nick called his girlfriend Monday evening, too.  He had almost lost his voice, which I assume is from all the yelling they have to do!  His girlfriend said he seemed to be in good spirits.  She and I, like you and your son's fiancee, have a pact to call each other when either of us hears from Nick.

Hi Tina- I haven't seen you on the group FB page, maybe I'm missing you. Please try to join in, if you haven't already done so. Lots of good info and support. Make a face book page and go to Friends/Family January 30, 2011 Navy OCS class 09-11.

Right now the best thing we can do for our LOs (LOVE ONES) is to keep writing them positive support letters. I am sure they are under alot of stress. We need to keep them in our prayers as well.
