My son graduated OCS in March and his currently stationed in Norfolk, VA.  I wondered if there was a group for SWO Moms.  Thanks.

Don't think so Tamara.

Tamara: You might be able to check with this sight regarding the ship that your son will be serving on, rather than the group (SWO) since it covers so much.

Our son is also a SWO.  he is serving on the USS Essex based in Sasebo, Japan.  30 months is a longgggg time for him to be away, but skype works wonders on the rare chances we get to match up times:(
Hi Tamara - haven't found a site for just SWO -- My lo is also a SWO -Nuke - but have joined the 'ship's group' to which assigned. A great group of 'family' from all around the country. Their ship is currectly deployed so it is a nice point of contact during the quiet times.

Thanks for all the replies.  I did find the group for my son's ship but it is not a very active group and doesn't have many members

: (  The ship just completed the finally inspection and sea trails and is in dry dock doing the upgrades.  We attend a family day and got to take a cruise on the destroyer in May, which was very interesting and it was great to see my son.  30 months is a long time!

Hi.  My daughter is a SWO and will be a nuke when she completes school.  She doesn't even start until sometime next spring, so it'll be a while.  I'm a member of several other groups, but not very active in any of them.  Perhaps one of us should start a SWO group?

Lisa

Hi! My daughter is SWO serving aboard the USS Boxer currently deployed. I never thought to look for a SWO group. It might be nice to have one! I've connected through the ship N4M group, their Facebook Page and through the officer Moms and the NJ Officer Moms. Everyone has different levels of experience and they have been a wonderful source of information, empathy and companionship. Welcome!
Hi!  My son is stationed in Norfollk and just completley anit-sub school last week.  He might be deployed on another ship in order to get his sea quals, since his ship is in dry dock. He graduated from OCS in March so he is very new to the Navy.
Congratulations to your son and your family on the recent OCS graduation! Our daughter graduated last Spring and went straight to the first half of SWO training and then hopped a flight to join her ship in San Diego two hours after graduating SWOS. She has been non stop ever since! It continues to be a great adventure for all! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I may have an answer for you. Private message me if you have any questions. Take care.

Wow, your daughter hit the groung running!  It has been very interesting so far, I was in the AF and my husband retired from the AF, and his Dad is retired AF, so it has been interesting to learn about the Navy.  Thanks & Take Care as Well.

Tamara--Your post caught my eye because our family is much like yours.  We are parents of  a new SWO, but we were both AF officers (just 4 years, not career).  So it has been interesting to learn about the similarities/differences with the Navy.
