It's primary spontaneous lung collapse. Primary because there is no explanation. He has to be near a major medical center for the rest of his life. It came from nowhere. No clue, no symptoms, nothing.

GOOD NEWS from LuAnn. She emailed me a few days ago but I been busy with work and just got around to reading some of my email messages yesterday.

everyone
just a quick email in case you didn't catch me text today or read your Facebook yet....

Taylor was released this afternoon from the hospital!!!! The doc called me and said the ex rays were clear, his opening cleaned out and "vacuum packed". Taylor got to take his first shower in 7 days in the hospital. I have no idea if he was sent home with pain meds but his first question to the doc was "When can I get in the ocean"? THe doc said he ordered two weeks off from work and to return in two weeks for more ex rays then next step. Taylor is recuperating at another junior officers house as his wife, Amy will take care of him. Taylor was going to go get his car in the parking lot from work and then to his house to grab necessities to stay at Jeremy and Amy's for awhile. He was sleeping when I talked to him for a second after I got off work. He is so strong physically that the recovery once it started in the last day was moving fast. We are just at the beginning of his command changing but I just want him to get the needed rest to heal further. BTW..."he has pictures of THE BEAR, THE NURSE AND HIMSELF TOGETHER"..he mentioned posting them on Facebook soon...lol... the nurses were telling me how popular his bear had become and a real "chick magnet"...

thank you again to everyone for all your love and support. I am confident we will "pay it forward"as it meant so much. let's continue to support all our men and women whom we depend on. they truly "hold up" each other as we experienced so heavily.

love
LuAnn

My son purchased a locking shotgun case for his sworn. That way if he has to fly it meets the airline standards. He just modified it for the sworn and it works great.

Thanks for the info-- if he hasn't had time to order - it gives me another option after OCS in RI. How do they 'pack' the sword when they move or travel?
Comment by kab on September 17, 2010 at 8:41am
A few weeks ago, I tried to order a sword through the Uniform Shop at Newport and was told they can no longer be ordered by civilians. It must be ordered by someone with a military ID-- so my son was suppose to order one (in his free time) pay for it and I would reimburse him -- but so much for the element of surprise

Regarding the swords, eventho they are provide at OCS you might want to consider buying one as a gift for your new officer.

As they move into the fleet they are often in need of swords for cermonies and weddings. They do run a few dollars, but if mom and dad or the grandparents are looking for that special gift. Its just an suggestion.

I know my son has used his numerous times since being commisioned.
