While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Darlene....How cute, I did not realize that Build a Bear had a Naval Officer Bear. But guess I am out of the loop since I don't have a little around all the time.
I am not sure if your son is a plebe or upper classman, but when our son went off to the academy we had a problem with people only asking how our son was doing and over looking our daughter. It got so bad that we had to talk with the Dentist along with the school about it. I am not sure if you suffer with this? But it is something to watch for, specially if you have children that go through the same schools.
It really took alot of work to get my daughters self esteem back.

Darlene.....It use to be hardest on our youngest daughter when our son would return to the Yard. We made it a point to purchase her stationary that was just her's and provide her with stamps and mailing labels so she could write her brother without having to ask anyone for help. It seems to help her with missing, because she could go off when she was missing him and draw a picture or write him a note.
The only thing we had to show her was where to put her brothers address on the envelope.

Jody is so right, welcome to the roller coaster that is Annapolis!! It's wonderful to hear that your son has adjusted so well. Do you think that your husband being military has something to do with it? Was your son in JROTC?
Just wondering. My daughter was new to military life, had not done JROTC at all and the adjustment took more getting used to. Her lessons as an athelete helped her though. Things like being a team player, etc seemed to help alot.
As far as the time she spent at home for the five years she was in school (inc. 1 yr at NAPS) we were lucky if we saw her twice a year. Winter break and a summer block visit. Of course, visiting the yard was so much fun we went when we could. PPW, fall football games, one Easter weekend inc. track meet, but I missed her Herndon event and Ring dance and a few others.
Trust me when I say, it does go by really fast after plebe year. I'm sure that you're enjoying your time with your mid now. And visit him at the yard when you're able.

Helen....Thanks it helps to know I am not the only one dealing with the deployments. I just wish we lived closer to Virginia! We have a daughter-in-law with two darling little granddaughters who would benefit from our assistance while our son is gone. Our daughter-in-law is the best! Its just that she is 24-7 on her own while he is gone and I know she would like a break now and then. I try and go for a visit every three to four months, but its hard coming for California.

It is nice to hear that so many of you have their children with them so some part of the holiday.
As DJ stated you just never know when you will see them again.
Last year our new granddaughter Madeliene was born three days before Christmas and then Jarrod shipped out 10 days later.
This year mine started his IA last Thrusday. We did get a phone call from him on Christmas eve. It was actually easier for me to talk with him this time, than on the night he shipped out. You would think after three deployments to the middle east it would be easier, but each one is hard.
I just look forward to the day in August when I can see and hug him!

Hi All,
My daughter had all day duty last night also to give those officers with spouses and small children more time to spend with them. I was proud to pick her up today from work this morning. We had a ball being together and sharing our presents, watching a movie together and even going for a run. With me pulling up the rear, of course! lol She's very fast on her feet. I pray you all had the opportunity to be with or at least speak to your children in the military today!!
