OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I'm going in PACT-SN, any info please!
Hi there! I'm not a mom, I'm a future sailor haha...but this is the first forum I've seen that isn't trashing on Undes, and I REALLY need info. Here's my basics:
I ship to RTC in December.
I have a 99 ASVAB (I needed to ship in a specific timeframe, so I had to accept PACT in order to do that).
I'm 25, and going in E-3.
What will happen after bootcamp? I know people have said you stay in Great Lakes and attend 2-3 weeks more schooling, but what after that? Can someone explain the whole sent to a ship vs. stationed in barracks more? I don't understand the sea tour shore/tour thing either. How is it 18 months sea tour but then you are only at sea for a few months at a time? Lol. Sorry for the deluge of questions. I sense people here might have some answers for me...

I can tell you my son's experience, I honestly don't know too much. He went in last year as undesignated. He did A School in GL after basic for about 3 weeks. He came home for 2 weeks. He then went to Norfolk, VA and is attached to the USS Arleigh Burke...they deployed in January for 6 months. He went in as an E3 also. He took an advancement exam in September and is still waiting for the results. He is currently in Norfolk living on off base housing and I don't think their next deployment is until 2014. He loves it....that's about all I know. Hope it helps. He found out the last week of boot where he was going after A School.

Yes he is good, Norfolk had a lot of flooding but they did ok....we are on Long Island, it's a mess around us but we were one of the lucky ones!! Flying to GL tomorrow to see my youngest son graduate boot on Friday!! Good luck to you!!

My son went in as an undesignated E3 (Sea PACT) and graduated from bc September 28th. After bc, he stayed in GL for 3 weeks for training (it is not an A school). He was assigned to the USS Gravely which is based in Norfolk. He took part of his leave (5 days) because his ship would be leaving on November 1st for a short trip. They will deploy after the first of the year for 7 to 8 months. Hoping that he gets the remainder of his leave before being shipped out. Sorry I could be more informative, but this is all new to me. Bri, My son also went in as PACT and finished basic back in August. He then spent about 2-3 weeks there for additional schooling and came home for 10 days. His ship, the USS New York, was already deployed on an 8 month tour. They flew him out to Norfolk, where he had to stay for about a week for indoc before they flew him out to meet his ship for the last 2 months of the tour. He's then coming back to Norfolk. It sounds like they don't go on long deployments, but once evey couple of years. They will go out every now and then for a short tour, like 2 months or so, but the long deployments aren't as often. On a side note, check with your recruiter to see if you can do any work for them when you come back from boot camp. If you work there, you can earn back up to 5 days of your leave back. My son ended up doing a couple of hours of work (talking to new recruits) and was able to get 5 days credit. Not a bad deal. Anyway, hope some of this information helps.
