Sailor's Family, Friends, Significant Others, and anyone else... I have created a new group called, "USS Virginia SSN 774"! This group is for anyone who has a loved one on this sub and is a great way for us all to keep up to date on a lot of things or just chat back and forth!

This is not to offend anyone on this page! I am new to this site and just wanted to make a page that could be for all family members.

HI, I am very new to all things navy. My son just joined the USS Virginia and I had such short notice I missed my opportunity to do a halfway box. Could anyone tell me the procedure for next time. Also is there a procedure for mail?

Hi Redbecky!

I am in the same pickle as you!  I am trying to contact the ombudsman to get an FPO address.  Once we get a hold of her (Amy), she will tell us when and where for the packages.  I keep getting a busy signal so I am going to call family services and see if I can get her email.  I do know that our sons need to contact her and see if she will contact us!  So, its a race!  Email your son and tell him to find her and give her your email!  If you get the address first let me know and it probably needs to be a private message!

Hi, at least you know her name, I couldn't even figure out who the ombudsman was/is. But I thought it was too late? I thought we had to do it before the boat left? Also I did tell my son that I needed to be added, but he wasn't sure how to do that or what list I was talking about. Now I'm not sure how to contact him would he even get an email?

Hi!

We did miss the halfway box.  But if we can get an FPO we can probably get him some reminders from home.  It has to be small though.

I will ask my daughter what email she uses for contact.  He did email her last week and said that emails would be few and far between.  I did get the ombudsman's email address but am not sure if I can give it out here.  What I did was call Fleet and Family Support.  They are very helpful.  I can give you that number because it is published.  It is 860-694-1600.  Just tell them what sub and what ombudsman.  Contact her to see if he added you to "the list".
