For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by navymom3 on October 24, 2011 at 3:56pm: My son is heading to Japan soon and he has an Iphone. They say it will work if it is an unlocked one. But to call home on it he would still need an international plan. I am having my son get a japan phone to use when in Japan to call buddies in Japan. That is what was suggested. My son also will have shore duty. When is your son heading over to Japan? Mine goes in January.

It's been a great visit with him this year. It amazes me to see how muture he is, well around me anyway, lol... I have to say after all the tears and begging for him not to join i am so proud of him and all that he has done. And this is just the begining. I know you are all feeling the same about your Sailors too. Hope you all have a great day!

I have a sailor stationed here in Jax as well as live here now also. So I try to answer there questions if I can. I also have a sailor still in Pensacola waiting for c school to start.

Comment by navymom3 on October 15, 2011 at 8:01pm: dunesmom- It is a lot warmer here in jacksonville. My boys live in shorts and I live in my Hawaiian dresses I got when we lived there. It is cooling off at night again but still over 80 during the day.

Comment by Dunesmom on October 15, 2011 at 7:49pm: So i guess it's alot warmer in Jacksonville than here at home. My Sailor is freezing. Came home on that plane in shorts and flip flops. We found some old cloths of his but no shoes. oh well at least the rest of him is warm.

Comment by gabbyhat on October 13, 2011 at 5:26pm: Hi all,....well my dtr made it off the SERE mtn....reports to JAX sometime Saturday....new chapter in her Navy life!!! Can't wait to come visit once she settles in....with all the holidays coming up...probably won't be til early 2012..
