Sandra AM Mom- There is a free military tax place called VitaTax (phone number 904-542-8039) right outside the main gate, it shares the parking lot with the USO but it usually has REALLY LONG LINES and they don't have alot of experience for complex tax returns (itemizing, schedule C)!  There is also a trailer in the NEX parking lot that does them but it costs $, not sure how much or how great they are.  I used to work for H&R Block and if your sons just got a fairly simple return and he's ok with it I can do them for him on hrblock.com for free.  I've done quite a few for my friends and neighbors this year just to save them time & money.  I live on base in housing, just send me a message and I'll give you my phone number and address.  And yes whereever he goes to get them done he will need his W2 which he can print off of mypay, and make sure he has his routing and account number to direct deposit his refund.

Everyone else- OMG!  The USO was giving out 100 FREE ticket to military personel for the Daytona 500 and we entered the drawing but didn't win.  I was SOOOO bummed out.  I've only ever been to recreational races, not NASCAR so that would have been an amazing experience!  My neighbor won 2 tickets though.  Ateast someone gets to enjoy it! =)

Proud Navy husband,  My daughter took my husband and I a couple years ago to one around St. Louis area. It's very loud but had a good time.

I love nascar. I've been wanting to take my wife to a race cuz she thinks it's kinda boring but I keep telling her that being at the race is what really makes it fun.

Proud Navy husband  I'll be watching it from home also and hope maybe I'll see Curtis. My daughter said that the service men that are there get to stand with the racers for the nathional athem that get to be in the pit area.  So I guess I'll see what happens.  She really into the nascar stuff. She goes to the races when she can.

my son and daughter left last night to visit Curtis and going to the Daytona with him tomorrow.   Today he said he's going with a group from the base that is taking a bus.  He will be able to visit the pit area. He's really looking forward to it.

Anyone else going to the races?

Just talked to my son and asked how they were doing and where they were at.  He replied I don't know but we are heading south so we are ok I think LOL.  They are traveling from Missouri and drove all night, prayers are with them.

Does anyone have family with the HSM-70?

Hi Sailormom, I haven't been here for a few days but will try to answer a little on the blue jacket of the quarter award.  Its an award of merit given to the sailor who is recognized as standing out in his professional accomplishment, commitment to his job and military bearing during a three month period.  A few are nominated and then they go before a board where they are tested on their knowledge of the Navy.

@NavyDadJim, congratulations to your son and his squadron.

It's supposed to be real rainy all week and clear up friday for a nice weekend in the 60's.  Which I'm real excited about my son turns 1 Friday and his party is Saturday! =)  Course it's still so far off that it could change!  Our zip code here on base is 32212 if you have weather bug or something similar.
