We Just got news we are moving to PAX today, we are due to move January 1st...Less than 2 months to pack up and get out of our wonderful lives here in Jacksonville, FL.  We've been in for 5 years now, NAS JAX was our first duty station and this is our first PCS.  I'm scared and excited all at the same time!  My husband is an AE and joining FRC Mid Atlantic.  Once we finally get orders we can get on the housing wait list which supposedly has a 2-4 month wait for Lovelle Cove...which is the community we're hoping to get into to.  I'm hoping we have a smooth move and transition and hope we can adapt well, especially since we're both native Floridians!

Laura at times everuthing the Navy does seems odd to us but in the end it all makes works out. No it is not strange that he is the only one. the Navy sends sailors to where they are needed at the time. He will be fine and make life long friends. He should get the name of another sailor that will help him along the way and make things alittle easier for him. and I am always here to help answer any of your concerns.

My son is only 19 and daughter 22. So, thankfully no grandchildren for me ! Sounds like a momentus day pinning the anchors!! Matt is just excited to get his caudeses at graduation. What is Steven's name just in case Matt needs some direction once he arrives?  So far I have found nobody else from his class going to MD...is that kind of odd?

Laura, Steven has been an IT most of his time in the Navy. He had his 17th year anniversary back on Aug. 13th. He was on the USS Whitney while there. We flew over back in Sept 09' when he made Chief so that I could pin his Anchors on him. I think that day has to be one of my proudest. I also found out during that trip that they were going to have a baby. The only down side of the whole trip was that while I was there my dad past away here in Florida. I am sure that your son will like the base there. It is a huge base with laot of things for him to do. Plus not as hot as Tx. I have another son, an engineer that lives in Houston and he said it has been awful hot there this year. Do you have other kids? any grandbabies? I wish I was closer so that I could see my grand daughter more but nothing I can do about that I have 2 others a boy 5 and girl 3 that live in Tallahassee Fl. which is 3 hours from me so I see them at least once a month. I just love being a grandma.

Laura, welcome. The base at Pax is really nice. Not alot around there but its growing. My son and daughter in law and grand daughter have been there for the past 1 1/2. They really like the area and the people. If you go to youtube and look up naval airwaves hit search then click on navair airwaves they are short clips that tell you alittle that is going on there on base. The girl doing them Mikel Proulx is my daughter in law. My son Steven is a Chief there on base, he has been an IT for many years Laura where in Ma you from. I grew up there before moving to Florida.

Hi everyone: My son got his orders to report to PAX after A school in San Antonio. Anything I should know about the base, etc?  Looking forward to his being closer to Boston than where he is now!

My son texted about 7PM central time that they had lost power; about an hour later he texted saying the emergency lights in the barracks had went out.  They are out of it now.  So I now wait patiently to hear from him this morning.

To my family and fellow sailors and their families, be safe this weekend with this storm heading your way. You all will be in my prayers
