I have a canon SLR and loved it, switched over to the Canon Rebel Digital Which uses my Canon SLR lens. Then I have 2 Minoltas (Maxium) SLR and alot of equipment for that. Minolta went out of business. Sony makes digitals that I can use my Minolta equipment with it. I love both of them. I also have a Nikon coolpik 8700 digital ( not real crazy about it.),but for the first digital it will work. What I like about the Canon and the Sony cameras is they will use off brand lens, the Nikon will only use the Nikon lens and equipment. So when money is tight, you use things that are compatible.
I have a Nikon D5000...I LOVE my camera but really want to upgrade to the 7000...but that of course takes $$ and that is something that seems to be eluding me right now! I take mostly still shots of scenery but also take "professional" photos for weddings, family, and senior pics...I can't seem to bring myself to do the pregnant women shots - while they are beautiful, it just isn't my cup of tea... I also do what I call pin-ups - sexy shots of women (no guys yet) in lingerie, and those are FUN to do. The women start out really shy and more conservative but during the shoot they start to relax. I have a no three rule..no holes, no nipples, and no toys. I use the land as my backdrops (yes even for pinups). But I really prefer to do nature.
Im here too! wow someone finally posted in the group....YEAH!!!!! I have a Canon 30D and I have had it for 4 years and love it.... I live in TX....son is in Virginia Beach,VA.
For those who are on this page please tell us what kind of camera you use, especially when you post a pic.
I have a Cannon Rebel SLR, I didn't get the extended warranty. After I had it for about 2 years and didn't use it all that much, it still looks brand new but I get error messages on it all the time. I have to take the battery out between photos and it is such a pain. If I use the regular lens that came with it it gives an error message that says the lens cannot make contact with the camera. That lens is now unusable. We are in a rural area and only one place that works on them in Asheville. They have a 3 or 4 month wait just to look at it. My husband bought me a Nikon D3000 SLR for Christmas and so far I love it and it takes awesome pictures. It was more expensive than the Cannon but I am hoping I don't have any problems with the Nikon. At this point I wouldn't recommend a Cannon to anyone.
I don't know if a new group would help. Maybe if we could just get the word out about this group. I will spread the word and see if there is any interest :-)
Lala, maybe a new photography group should be started? thoughts?
