If I am not mistaken they have 3 chances to pass the pfa- if they cannot pass it they can get held back till they pass. If that happens they would not participate in the graduation they will just move over to a school-  they dont have to be a fast runner they need to pace themselves to complete- i do believe the younger men have to have 13 minutes or less- I am not sure on that- but he will have more opportunities to pass it and the officers really work with them and try to motivate them to pass-  my daughter paced herself with one of the petty officers and at the end went ahead and passed- and that was after an injury to her ankle and 6 weeks of RCU-  hope that helps-- all I can say is pray pray pray!

They help them get better with the running if they are having issues. The time they have to do it by is by there age. A younger recruit will have to do it in a shorter time than an older one. Mine is 20 and I will ask him what time he had to get.

I thought they petty much had to pass these tests at the recruiter's before they joined?  My thinking was that if they could pass it then, they would just improve in BC.  However a lot of them get very sick in BC since they are not used to all that activity and stress.

My sailor loved to swim so much that he said if he had known they would have got to practice swimming everyday, he would have failed the swimming test on purpose.

They will get a chance to take it again. That is what my son had issues with was the run. The last time is the monday before PIR. I would write him and have him run with someone who has past it. That way he can keep pace with them. Not the fastest runner but maybe one that passed it by 30 seconds or less.

what if they pass everything but not running. he got high 13 low 14 time?

They take the pt test several times during boot camp. I am not sure exactly how many. I know they do it right after they first get there. Then several times after that until they pass it. They also do the swim test right after they get there. That way if you need help you go into a learn to swim class.
