Carolyn, It is always hard to say good bye to our sailors no matter how long they have been in the navy. Steven joined right out of high school and was my first to leave home. Now 16 years later I still tear up when I have to say goodbye. But one thing I know for sure is that I am so very proud of him and all he has done. I flew to Italy last year when he was promoted to Chief to pin his Anchors on him and I creid like a baby.

M&M, when our kids signed up to see the world, we didn't really understand that they were signing us up too! 911 took all the fun out of flying. How about a cruise ship...they would get there eventually.

Thanks Carolyn. It was awful when he left for BC. It's hard letting go. The small consolation is knowing he is growing up and trying to make his way, my biggest problem is that it has to be so far away. I found out it's Japan, I can't drive there :). I hate flying, I told my husband yeah I could go and visit if they can sedate me for the whole trip. Just not a fan of flying anymore. I'm hanging in there.

carolyn, did you feel sad because now they could ship her overseas since she's out of school, or because there's more to let go of than we know yet?

Hello everyone, just found this site a couple of days ago and signed up to post Sunday. And now I'm here. I'm so proud of my son, we've done bootcamp and A school now we're getting ready for oversea's duty. I miss him already. Already feeling sad..

Hi y'all, Just wanted to say I'm glad to find a Florida group. My son graduated 9/10/10. PIR should be on everyone's "bucket list". It was a privilege to be able to experience it.

Definetly go to PIR if you can.

Are you and family getting to go? It is a great family time. The pride you feel is wonderful.
