FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Loquax's mom I will definetly keep you in my prayers and happy to hear you are going to PIR, It is well worth the trip. It took almost 3 weeks before I got my first letter. I cried. What a softy. Ladies let's all pray for the young sailor's family killed last week in Afghanistan. He is from the Miami area. Stay well and God bless

Hubby has said we can go to the PIR however now I have to get clearance from my doctors. I have be battling cancer this year so I have to get clearance to fly. Appt on Tuesday, wish me luck and pray hard.....still no letter and no call.

Loquax;sMom: PLEASE don't miss PIR. You will so regret it. If at all possible, go! The future graduations are nothing like PIR and most parents don't even attend them. So I pray that your husband reconsiders!

The South Florida Navy moms has a meet and greet on occasion. We had one in Miami Lakes in April. Lots of good cheer with Navy families. They do get leave A school. Steve left for A school 2 days after graduation. Stay cool. It is hot here. Yuck

Thank you Janie, I did join the Boot Camp mom's blog as well. It is nice that there is so much informaiton available to us "new recuits". I am praying that I get to go but found out today that he is going to be a grad and go and hubby is thinking that we should wait til he gets back down here. I dont want to but we will see what happens.
