Since his A school will be in GL, plan on staying until late Sunday or Monday. You will have to wait for him for a few hours after PIR but he will have liberty until around 8 that day and then he will also have liberty on Saturday and Sunday. Just keep in mind that whatever time liberty ends, you will need to be back at the base about a half hour earlier because he will need to walk to his ship.

navymom2013 that sounds great, would love to meet . Samsmom- My son ships out Jan 27.. Still doesn't seem real. I would love any tips you can give to help the time pass when we don't get to talk much. I work full time but finding my mind keeps wandering and I am trying to get as much info so I don't worry. Did either of you go up for PIR? I am hoping to, just trying to plan what I can. My son's A school will be in GL so he will be there 18 weeks all together. I don't worry about him, I worry about me.. lol

Hi MommaDukes - I am in Dunedin and my only son is in Groton now.  It is good to meet you and maybe we can get together some time since we are so close.  My son is in ETNav and graduates in May - then he will go out on a Sub - not sure which one yet.

Samguysmom- my son started calling me that when he was little also- picked up from Johnny Bravo cartoon.. Good luck with finding people- I have only been on site a few days, but the info is amazing and helps me stay calm. My son is an only child and 19, so I will get the empty nest thing besides the intro to military life.
