My son left for boot camp on July 17th. He said I would get his address in a week and his graduation date in two weeks but, haven't heard or received anything. Hoping I hear something soon.
My son was at BC from 2-20 until 4-20. We received a total of 3 calls, I'm here, (1) midway call about 15 minutes and I'm a sailor call. this was the hardest part for me, because other moms were getting phone calls for often, even from his division. I was very sad when this was happening, but I just wrote lots of letters which he liked. I even sent the multiple choice and fill in the blank letters, he really enjoyed those. We also mailed newspaper clipping from home, with sports stuff too. Just keep writing and sending pictures too. He liked having a family photo to look at during his time there. Good Luck, MOM PIR will be here and everything changes. Now I talk with him during the week and most certainly during the weekends. BC was the longest time for me, keep busy and start planning your visit to GL.
@ryznerclan when my son was in bc we received the "I'm here" call. And we didn't hear from him again for 4 weeks. Don't worry too much....No news is good news as they say. They usually have to earn their phone calls home and if the division as a whole fails something then sometimes they lose that call home. But, sometimes SR's earn special calls if they do something extra. My son won a knot tying contest and he won a phone call home. So keep hoping and keep the phone close. I'm sure she will call sure.....Try not to worry!!! I know it's hard...been there too! Good luck to you and her.....just keep writing her those letters...
