Has anyone found a "count down timer" that actually works on facebook?  one that can show how many days/hours until PIR :-)

So true about the communication. It is a privilege for them. If one person does something wrong, a whole group can suffer......this carries over even on PIR weekend. Remind your SR to get in on time, no drinking, be in the proper clothing.....at my son's PIR weekend....in one div. two girls got haircuts and the entire div lost some liberty. In another div. a few guys came in late and again, the whole division lost liberty.....I felt bad for the SR and the families of those sailors who did nothing wrong, but lost precious time with their loved ones.

When I was a young Navy wife, we had no internet, no cell phones.....we had to wait on letters or calls when they were in port. And.....while my son was in P'cola for NACCS and A school, he called a lot!! Now that he is at his duty station, we are not hearing from him as much. Of course, it's different for everyone.....but with the Navy, you soooooo have to go with the flow, even when we don't like it or it brings us to tears......hugs to all of you!!!

Same here with phone calls and letters....not many but please don't stop writing!  They wait everyday for your letters and if they are small enough include local newspaper articles also crosswords and horoscopes.  My sons friends actually couldn't wait for horoscopes even tho they were late they loved them! lolz  I was crazed everyday waiting for some kind of word but there time is very limited.  My son is now out of A school and is out in Bremerton Washington and loves everything about his detail.  Hang in there!

My son went to boot camp on the 28th of June.  I have not received any letters yet.  I have received his box.

We finally got the first real call from our son.  He called me and I immediately conferenced my husband who was at work and our other son, who lives in Nashville, in and we had a 4-way call.  It was so wonderful.  He  is ready for this to be finished and move on.  Hopefully everyone else is getting their call.  This call sure brightened my day :-)!!!

We had more than four people. There are no actual tickets. They just give names of guests. Under 12 didn't count to a total anyhow. If you have extra people sometimes they have them wait to see how crowded it is and if there's room, they let them in. With us, we walked in the front gate instead of driving in and had no problem. Plus, we were the first people in the hall.

That's tough only four I wish they could use our two extra, my son is an only child and we will only need two tickets,  I'm sure it will be hard for her to choose but it's so nice that it's her choice, I'm sure the people she picks will be honored to go.  I thought I read something about a stand by list?

If there are any moms near Cincinnati...another mom is organizing a group to have breakfast with Navy brass during Navy Week there....if interested, let me know.

And....for any Ohio moms..we're planning for our summer picnic.

AND....if anyone has someone in OK at Tinker AFB be sure to join the OK moms group and the moms of sailors at Tinker.
