Hello all. I just got my first letter the other day. My son graduates 8/12/11. Are there any good hotels and resturants yall reccommend? We are looking to make resvervations for a hotel quickly. Good luck to all of your kids also!

Hello everyone :)  My son has been at basic now since May 19th :( It was a long 3 weeks before I heard anything from him.  I wasn't prepared to have no contact for so long!!  I miss him dearly.  We just booked our plane tickets for the July 15th graduation and we're very excited to be there!  @ McDarla...funny about the 'favorite meal'...I couldn't believe how much cereal and milk my son would consume!  Empty boxes in the morning!  Now I can't wait to send him boxes of cereal!! LOL

Be sure to check with your local Old Navy stores during the weekend leading up to July 4th...each year, they hold tables where people can send cards (donated by Hallmark) to deployed Troops, and whenever someone purchases certain items they are highlighting, Old Navy will send those items to the Troops as well! My local Blue Star Mothers group will be manning the tables at our local Old Navy stores, so check it out in your areas, too!

Hey there ladies! Sorry I haven't checked in lately! Welcome to all of the newcomers. Things have been quite hectic for B, he stayed in GL for about 3 weeks after PIR (3/20/11) because he had to have some major dental work finished. Then went on to P'cola where he is now in Phase 2 ( can wear civies off duty and can now leave base w/ a buddy) He loves it there, except for the heavy humidity. We are so used to the dry heat of Colorado. He is waiting to class up right now but does have some of his friends there from BC. He couldn't believe how many of the guys were there, said it was great to know some people once he got there! It has been great being able to Fb, text and talk to him so much since leaving BC!! He got the Rate he was hoping for (ATI) and is really chomping at the bit to start the real schooling... He will be calling today to wish his Dad Happy Dad's day and we are looking forward to that!

Bravo Zulu to all of the Navy Dads out there today!
