hi, i am in atl, seasoned RN, presently nights on IV therapy. my son is in his second week of boot camp, ship 12 div 009, set to graduate on 9/21. i am scheduled to work thanksgiving and so i know this sounds pretty sick, but i hope his graduation is delayed because of my schedule, i can get time off after thanksgiving but finding someone to replace me on nights on thanksgiving is going to take a miracle from God.

Hi Stephanie, I suggest you get into a BSN program ASAP if you are going full time.  With the exception of FEW, it took folk I knew 3+ years to get the assoc degree! BSN programs are a set curriculum and the opportunities down the road are greater for a BSN (mostly because u won't  have to go back and get it later.) I am not an advocate for "the ore letters u have after your name the better you are", but if you want to advance, u will need it. Good Luck!

Hi Stephanie!  Yes since you are young and starting go for the BSN...  many jobs these days require it...  there are more opportunities and I am not sure so much in the pay but I am sure there is some and just the fact that some positions require it makes you more marketable...  I am 49 and have debated as I only have an Associates...  but I am working for a school district in Oregon and they just require RN, and I have 10 years in school nursing now.. so love it, love my schedule there is retirement bennies so I am content...  My daughter is in a BSN program and will grad with 2 bachelor degrees (biology) wants to eventually be a Nurse Anesthetist

Hello everyone!  I'm Candy and my son Manuel is stationed in Virginia waiting for the Newport News to become sea worthy.  I currently have two classes left in my RN program and will be graduating in December.  I really hope my sailor will be able to attend my pining ceremony.  I'm a LVN and work part time while I finish school.  I look forward to sharing on this site and making new friends.

Hi all. My SR will graduate 9/14/12. I live in Seattle and work at the VA hospital here. This is my second career (28 yrs as medical technologist). Love our patient population! Besides, I'm a vet too -Army. My son is first in a couple of centuries in our family to go Navy, but I think it will be great for him.

Welcome Jenideer- Some of the most rewarding work I ever did was with veterans. They seemed to truly appreciate anything we did for them. And I loved the way they would just get up and go help a fellow patient. Don't see that most places....
