Hey everyone...my hubby is at BESS right now in Groton, CT.  He says they will be graduating October 8th, and I am wondering if anyone has lived in that area before.  Specifically, Trident Park and Nautilus...please let me know any details on the housing situation and what may happen after BESS.  He is going to school to be a Sonar Tech after BESS..Thanks:)

Is that were he is going to be stationed at or just in training?
He is supposed to be going there for his A school which is 1 year long..
O Ok. I was curious b/c me and my husband are moving there in November. I don't know much about it now but I will once we get up there. We will be there for 3 years.
Hi,
I used to live in Groton, CT. I'm actually from Gales Ferry, Ct which is not to far from the base.
When I was married to my 1st husband, we lived in housing. However, it has changed so much now that the housing I/we lived in, is no longer there. Everything is all new and up dated. It wasn't bad when we lived there. Just like any other housing area, except it's free. What I can see of the housing units, not bad.
And what I have heard of them, not bad either. Like I said, everything is new and improved.
if you can get into housing then do so, other wise your going to pay alot for apts. and/or housing on the outside. CT. is very, very expensive to live there. since they did a huge make over for housing, i wish i could live there. :) go online to check it out in the newspaper. it's called The New London Day, i believe and you will see just how expensive everything is for housing on the outside of the base. rent is high in most places and some places don't include anything. it depends where you go. you may get lucky renting a house, but still you have to really look around. if you can get into navy housing, that's what i would do. hope this helps you out a little.
if you would like to, let me know where those places are and i can tell you if they are any good or not. because there are some places in Groton that you don't want to live at. if you would like my phone # and you would like to call me, then let me know, i'd be more than happy to talk w/ you.
