For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

O Ok. I was curious b/c me and my husband are moving there in November. I don't know much about it now but I will once we get up there. We will be there for 3 years.

Hi,
I used to live in Groton, CT. I'm actually from Gales Ferry, Ct which is not to far from the base.
When I was married to my 1st husband, we lived in housing. However, it has changed so much now that the housing I/we lived in, is no longer there. Everything is all new and up dated. It wasn't bad when we lived there. Just like any other housing area, except it's free. What I can see of the housing units, not bad.
And what I have heard of them, not bad either. Like I said, everything is new and improved. -

if you can get into housing then do so, other wise your going to pay alot for apts. and/or housing on the outside. CT. is very, very expensive to live there. since they did a huge make over for housing, i wish i could live there. :) go online to check it out in the newspaper. it's called The New London Day, i believe and you will see just how expensive everything is for housing on the outside of the base. rent is high in most places and some places don't include anything. it depends where you go. you may get lucky renting a house, but still you have to really look around. if you can get into navy housing, that's what i would do. hope this helps you out a little.
