Hi everyone! I'm new here so please bare with me while I figure this out. My DH is leaving for MEPS on Wednesday and then for BC on Thursday. I was doing great until this morning and then the waterworks began. Any suggestions on how to make this easier? In six years I have not gone a day without talking to him!

Hi NWKate!  My husband's at boot camp right now, about halfway through, and it isn't easy.  I think it's hard no matter what. He gave me a journal before he left and it's actually helped me quite a bit.  Whenever I get down or frustrated, I just write down everything I'm feeling.  It also helps to do so right before starting a letter, letting me get everything out and allowing me to remain upbeat.

If you have anything you've been neglecting lately, like unfinished projects, focusing on those helps redirect your attention and gives you a sense of accomplishment as well (no matter how small)!  Honestly, I've also been watching a lot of Netflix in my spare time to distract me.  Besides that, this website is a huge help to read through.

I hope something in here helps you.  I really highly recommend the journal.  I've never really kept one before, and I don't know if I will after this, but it's definitely a big help right now!

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely haveto do the journal. I've never kept one before so this will be interesting. I'm hoping that our daughter will keep me busy enough but I know that I will still need to figure all this out!
One day at a time. Sometimes one min. at a time. Hubby has been gone 2 weeks now and we are use to him working out a town, but this is different. Spend all the time you can with him now and just start counting down till graduation. I write everyday. Makes me feel like I'm talking to him, and I can tell him everything that's happening so he doesn't feel like he's missing anything with our kids. Another thing that's been a life saver is having another Navy wife to talk to that's going through the same thing, or has gone through it. Hang in there!
