I'll be stalking this thread. We'll be moving there soon, too! :)

J's Wife when are you going? We are going in November and still trying to decide on which apartment! I wont know anyone there in Norfolk so i hope to make friends.

We only have verbals, as of today, but it should be soon. I was just about to get on here and start searching for places. I'll let you know if I find anything out. :)

I'll be moving there eventually too! :) hopefully the end of nov!

Sounds like we're all in the same boat. lol

I'm in Va Beach :) hubby is stationed in Norfolk <3

how do you like VA Beach? how long does it take to drive to Norfolk? I'm looking into places out that way. :)

Where do you live? apt condo townhouse?

I live in Hampton, Its not too far from Norfolk. Just over the tunnel/bridge about 20 minutes north. What kinds of things do you want to know about Norfolk?

How long is the drive from Hampyon into Norfolk?I heard the traffic is bad and can take 45mins.We were thinking of finding a place in Hampton but because what we heard about traffic decided to look for things closer but everything is so expensive in Norfolk.

It depends on what part of Hampton and the traffic. From where we live down by Buckroe Beach area to the base its like 20 minutes. Especially if your sailor uses the back gate into base. If traffic is bad then it can take 45 minutes... hell a few hours, but honestly that's how it is everywhere here! Its ridiculous if there is an accident around here it stops traffic no matter if its through the tunnel, on the interstate or even a regular street. There was an accident with an overturned trailer going from Hampton to Newport News which doesn't go through any tunnels and it shut the highway down all four lanes, for almost 8 hours!

Personally I LOVE living in Hampton. My husband even says he prefers living in Hampton and dealing with traffic then living in Norfolk. He had friends that lived 10 minutes from base and still ended up taking 30 minutes to get to the base or more. We prefer the feel of Hampton personally and you do get more for your money in Hampton as far as price versus size because BAH for the peninsula is less than on the Southside

Most people say Hampton is ghetto but its mostly people that have literally never lived here.  They hear a story or two on the news or drive past a rough area.

I will be soon. I will be marrying my Sailor either thursday or next thursday and will be moving up there as well. I currently live in NC.
