Hi nj mom,

Not on the Carl Vinson, but on the Bush.  It seems like forever when they leave.  Is this your sons first cruise?

it is my oldest daughter yes this is her first cruise but she was in bahrain for 14 months supposed to be 1 yr but you know how that goes i am so used to talking to her practically everyday this is more nerve wracking she thinks the ship is amazing loves it
she just came back from bahrain in feb and then to the carl vinson in april working my last nerve thought she would have a longer time in the states before she had to leave again but im sure you know who that goes l
i just read about the bush not to long ago sorry i just cant remember what i read good luck to your son where is he stationed out of my daughter is stationed out of CA is this his first time out im sure he loves the ship also everything on there that they want them to have my dau is gym nut so it works for her she will be back in port soon then maybe home to her parents in nov but i am glad she will be back with her son and husband soon i know she misses them like crazy

Wow,

Bahrain and then a cruise.  That is being away for a long time.  And when in port, she is still the other side of the country.  Yes, you do have it rough.  Her husband and son must live in California?  Not very close for visiting the little one.  Is this a 3 year term, or did the time in Bahrain count from there as IA?  If so, she could look for the next duty station on the east coast to be closer to family.

Bush was in the news, because it is out on its first cruise.  They just finished building it in the last 2 years, then did sea trials in the area to make sure it wouldn't sink as soon as they pulled from the pier for this cruise.  My son likes what he does, he is assigned to a squadron out of Oceana in Virginia Beach.  So we get to see him generally twice a year.  Even when he is at the base, he is not there because the jets train in many locations and those who keep them going need to be where the jets are.  Emails work from ship to everywhere, they just don't have access very often.  But they can type when they can get near a computer and when the Captain turns the boat the right way, and they are in a safe location, all the emails ship out and get received.  Having a son is not like a daughter.  Sons for the most part are much less communicative.

Hope your daughter has a great cruise.

your rite that is the news i heard my daughters 14 months in bahrain was her unaccompanied her new duty station is lemoore ca her husband and son are there with her at least when she is there and they stay there when she goes out this is her 3 year duty station then she will have 8 yrs in when she is done there she was supposed to go to oceana va beach but they pulled the orders and sent her to ca her husband is from ca so it is nice for him

hopefully the next one will be on the east coast yeah i hear ya about sons i hear from mine maybe once a week and hes lives in in philly

her cruise is almost over thank goodness she will be in port in the not to distant future good luck to your son also
